Use Cute FTP to connect to your box. Once you have the file that you want to download, right click the file and choose the following.
    Download Advanced>Multi-part Download>MAX (8 parts)
Cute FTP will then download the file in 8 different parts at the same time and will re-join them into one file when the download is complete.
I am also using Feral and this method always maxes out my home connection. Here is a copy of Cute FTP that i uploaded for you on MU.
It is portable, just extract and launch, no need to install and it's already registered.

MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

I hope this helps to solve your problem. :)

FTP is designed to handle multiple file transfers. If I download a single file it's slow, if i download a group of files, such as a rar archive, t maxes out my connection. it's one of the reasons The Scene uses rars

Something kinda funny just happened. I decided to redownload one of the torrents I already Dl'd with FeralHosting yesterday on my PC directly from the tracker, rather sit through the slow transfer of SFTP. I was looking at the peers early on in the DL and saw that someone who was giving me around 100kbs had the same name as my feral hosting transmission url. I figured it must be common among people with feral accounts, then 2 hrs later it hit me :D

I log into transmission and I see that I seeded 1gb of the file to myself lol. So upload works on transmission and it gives me the same crappy SFTP speed, I guess it is feral's slow upload speeds.

Actually I was referring to Filezilla in general, SFTP or FTP. Both at home and work I find I need to have more than 2 simultaneous connections in the program to max out my connection to my seedboxes.

Basically what Mr. Bond is saying...

Huh. Using command line ftp I max out my work's connection (100 Mb/s) with one large file. Don't use filezilla, but can't imagine it being that bad.

sorry just reread your post you should be getting a lot faster than u r canu not try a different ftp proggie like flash fxp or cute ftp m8 see if u get different results
This actually helped me a lot. I was getting 100kbps but shut off my VPN and now it's my isp's max rate, at about 600kbps. It's a little bit better than downloading torrents on utorrent.
