Thread: Looking for a torrent client version that is used by most trackers

I am looking for a torrent client version that can be used by most trackers. I am interested in getting a Seedbox from pulsedmedia, but they have rTorrent + ruTorrent and i don't see anywhere on any of the trackers i am currently using if that is allowed. Keep in mind i am still new to this, so maybe i am overlooking something. Can anyone help me?

You will be fine with current versions of rtorrent. ruTorrent is just the interface, so there is no problem there.

All trackers will be ok with rtorrent. On the trackers you may see it referred to as libtorrent, which is the same thing, I think it is essentially the engine that rtorrent uses. Current version is 0.12.9, anything 0.12.x will be fine, on any tracker. I am sure pulsedmedia uses the current stable release, or worse case 0.12.6, either way you are fine.

Thanks for the info. I saw that ruTorrent has an interface that looks a lot like utorrent. Is rtorrent a modified version of utorrent?

Right now for at least a month i will not be using a seedbox, what is the best torrent client version i can install so that a lot of trackers will accept them?

If you are using windows based system I would go with uTorrent 2.2 for now.

ruTorrent is not a client in itself, it is a web front-end for rtorrent, and if you use uTorrent, you will have no trouble understanding ruTorrent. rTorrent is a great client, but it's interface is kind of horrible, so ruTorrent was designed as a front end, and it does have similar look and feel to uTorrent, whether that is by design or not I have no idea.

They are quite similar in looks but quite frankly, that's where the similarities end. Don't worry about the client being whitelisted at your trackers. Make sure your trackers are whitelisted by your seedbox, and put your seedbox info in your user profile info page. Most trackers know what a seedbox looks like, but if a problem were to arise they would also see your seebox info.

I'd go with uTorrent 2.2 something because anything after that is just stupid.

utorrent 2.2.1 is Stable enough for most trackers.
