Thread: I would like to know where I can get a seedbox

Hi I was wondering where would be a good place for a seedbox, as well as how do I do it. My requirements are a GUI, and preferably over Linux. If it can't be done with Linux, I guess I will have to just go with windows. But I need to know how to get the seedbox to work with linux and mac. using qbittorent and utorrent. I just have been a big leecher for a while, and I figure it's time to give back. I just don't have much of an upload connection to spare.

And reading the various reviews to find a suitable provider. Then visit that provider's website and choose a package that suits your requirements. After that, you'll have to signup with them and pay them via paypal for the seedbox that you wish to purchase.

All of them will give you what you need. To manage your seedbox, you usually have one webui (doesn't matter if you're on linux or windows), and several kinds of access to the server (ssh, http, ftp, sftp, scp...) to go along with it.

A seedbox is really a remote server (computer) sitting on a very fast network connection. And you mange or control it remotely. Most seedboxes are linux based and by far the most common client is ru/rtorrent. This is a linux client with a java/web GUI. More flexible /expensive plans may include deluge, shell access and the ability to install whatever client or software you like.

But since you access the seedbox remotely, you're not using your existing client. The torrent client is installed on the seedbox, so there isn't any real mac compatibility issue to worry about. For content that you wish to keep, you would normally transfer it to your PC/mac by sftp.
