Thread: rTorrent not reporting DL numbers to tracker

Hi everyone,

I searched the forums and could not find any solution to my problem.



I am new to using a seedbox and rTorrent/ruTorrent. On some private trackers, my downloads are not being counted, and for my snatches it says 0 DL even though I have not restarted a session or anything. I am using rTorrent 0.8.6/0.12.6 and have not been able to find a way to fix this. I am hoping that some seedbox veterans can tell me how I can get my download stats to update correctly (UL is updating fine it would seem).

That's very weird. You should talk to the trackers taff immediately or you will probably get banned for cheating. Unless the torrents were freeleech( only upload is counted, but you are still not allowed ot HnR)
Are you sure the torrents you downloaded weren't freeleech? Are you sure the whole tracker isn't on freeleech or something like that?
The torrents are marked as downloaded, but the downloaded amount is always 0, right?
Please give us some more information, at least the tracker name would be nice.

K, so Waffles is one. I posted in the forum and PMd staff but got no response. I have kept track of my freeleech and normal downloads. Waffles happened after the site freeleech was over. At IPT it just happened also. Now the interesting thing is that if I pause the torrent before it completes, the tracker updates. If I let it finish on its own, the tracker does not update.

The only thing I could find searching around was with autotools causing the completed/stopped/seeding report to the tracker to happen so fast, that only the last signal is being sent. However I am not using autotools.

IPT responded to me, but just said that the update can take time. I downloaded another torrent after that and did the pause/start thing and my stats updated while the other download had not updated and says I am only uploading and have 100% with no DL.

I'm having the same problem. I PMd Magister and haven't gotten a response yet. So I'm wondering if anyone can help me!

Is the torrent on freeleech? Try checking if the torrent that you're downloading is a free leech torrent?

Also, did you compile / setup rTorrent on your own?

If you did, then check the .rtorrent.rc file and make sure DHT is set to disabled.

Let me know if you need help on the DHT part.

What tracker was it? Are you sure it's not on sitewide freeleech?

The updating of stats usually takes some time, because it doesn't happen instantly, the results of scripts being used.
Are you using autotools?
Did rtorrent crash or did you kill the session? (if the session isn't closed properly it can lead to slowly updated and inaccurate stats)


I doubt that your download stats will stay zero because of DHT, but it's likely they are lower.

Well, to start off, I'm using version 0.8.6. I contacted my providers (Chociz) and they said that 0.8.6 is the latest stable release and it should be working because others are using the exact same setup and hadn't reported any problems.

It was on multiple trackers. Ratioless and ratio. BTN, HD-Space, TD, PTN.

It's been happening for a week or so now after I noticed my snatches hadn't gone up on BTN. On TD, I've contacted the staff a month ago because this happened before but then started working for some reason. Now, I see that it's not working again.

When it first happened (at TD), I downloaded many (like 20 torrents) and NONE of the download stats were recorded. No freeleech torrents were downloaded and my download amount stayed at 0.00GB. I had to prove my ratio on each torrent to keep my acct alive because I asked for help and they didn't believe I was being honest. Anyway, it's not a freeleech torrent, I waited for the stats to update (of course), and it's happening on multiple trackers so it must be my client!

I'm not sure what you mean by autotools but I think what you're saying is RSS. No, I download each .torrent to my PC and add them to rTorrent one at a time on my own. EDIT: Ah, just checked rTorrent settings, and all boxes are unchecked for autotools

And I never really 'close' the session with rTorrent. I leave a tab open on my browser and put my laptop to sleep and turn it on and the tab is always there when I turn my laptop back on.

BTW, I don't have any type of root access.

rtorrent 0.8.9 from seed.st ( all my stats are working)

rtorrent 0.8.6 from whatbox (my stat are working too) Also have root access

Not sure but maybe you mess with the settings?

I've never touched anything except the theme. I'm using 'Dark'

Also, the same thing happens to me like the first guy. When I pause a torrent and force a re-check, the download stats do update. But when I don't, 0bytes of download will be recorded. And yes, I do wait for the tracker to update!
