firstly can i thank TI for accepting me into their fold , i'm sure i can become a worthy member once i can get back on terra firma (hypothetcally speaking) as the title suggests i feel total awash and free-floating , as i try to navigate my way around the different aspects of TI i am completely bewildered and basically in need of a safe haven if anyone could find the time to sling a tow rope out to me , or point me to a designated thread i would be forever in their debt

No doubt it can all seem overwhelming.

But as Rock3r already opined, you have to be more specific. What is your general goal(s)? Or what is it that you hope to do /or why did you join T-I? If you give us a little insight into what you'd like to do, then someone will probably try to steer you in the right direction.

Joining TI has given me a safe haven to gather material discussed below , hopefully virus/maleware free .
ok , basically i love music , and music dvd's ,plus the odd film for the mrs . Obviously whatever i obtain i would also like to give back , i have just been given an invite from firefly (many thanks to him) and have managed to get super 8 , a film the mrs has wanted to see for ages , i now have to seed this for 72 hours or until the upload matches the download .
Does this upload/download ratio get reflected here on TI ? or does it stay attached to the site i got the movie from ?

No, this stays attached to the site you got the movie from. Although, in order to progress to some of the more exclusive trackers, you may be required to show proof that you are an active sharer and not just a leecher, for that you might have to post screenshots giving proof that you are indeed a responsible user. Furthermore, if you are looking for niche trackers that specialize in certain types of content, you might want to take a look at the tracker reviews section here:

Once you find a tracker that you think suits your needs, you can embark on a quest to attain an invite to that tracker ( Just kidding, it won't be as long as a quest but it could take a few days :P) by looking at the giveaways frequently. Also, if you are an active member of this community that will GREATLY improve the chances of you receiving an invite that you are after.

Now, to point you a bit in the right direction, you are looking for quality music, and for that waffles.fm is a must-have and it's not that difficult to get, so you might want to start looking for waffles.fm giveaways. Also, for high quality movies, you could apply for a bit-hdtv invite (there are plenty of giveaways for that too). Bit-HDTV has good quality movies and TV shows as well. Once you get the hang of maintaining your ratios on these sites, you can move up the ladder and start looking for some higher-level trackers like PTN (a ratio-less movie tracker) and a LOT of others that would take too long to mention here :). Your account here is completely separate from any accounts you have on trackers or other websites. Having said that if you receive an invite from a T-I member, you need to look after your account, as if you get into trouble on the tracker, your inviter may also get into trouble, which could jeopardise your account here, so please follow any seeding rules on the tracker.

If you are caught cheating or trading anywhere this will also lead to a ban here, so just don't do that.

Well the dynamic duo here (Arakasi/Rock3r) are on the ball. But I'll post too anyway.

Most of us here are concerned about private trackers, which are generally considered better and more secure than public trackers. Viruses and malware are rare on private trackers, particularly when compared to their public counterparts.

Those upload/download ratios are not reflected at TI. It is between you and your tracker, provided that you don't do something unwise and get disabled /banned or cause grief for your invitor. T-I expects you to follow the T-I rules here as well as the rules of trackers that you join. If you run afoul of the rules, you can get called to task on the 'Chopping Block' here. But I'm sure that you will follow the rules, right? And we hope that you will participate in the community here and try to give back a little when you are in a position to do so.

To get headed in the right direction, read the rules here and at your tracker. And if a few things aren't clear, then try posting in the forums again + usually someone will try to help you out.
