Thread: active torents limit for rutorent ?

hi folks I have another problem with rutorrent after fixing RSS options new problem come our for example when I download 10 torrent same time even IM not using my conneciton for others programs my download and upload speed %50 drop I mean witrh 5-6 torrent Im downloading 40 -50 mb/s and when its over 8 speed dramatically drop to 5-10 mb/s I couldnt find anytrhing about how to ilimit same time torrent download if anyone know this would be nice for me

If I understand your request, you want to limit the number of concurrent downloads.. ?

I believe the setting for that in rutorrent can be found in the settings menu (gear icon) | Connection | Other limitations | Number of download slots

That should do what you want. Since rutorrent is a front end (control panel) for rtorrent, this should correspond to max_downloads_global in rtorrent.rc




Here are a few thoughts about rutorrent settings in general for anyone who might be interested. If it doesn't apply to the OP's situation (or if you find the following confusing) then just ignore the rest of this..
Generally speaking though ru/rtorrent is designed to work with pools. A lot of torrent clients spawn a new process for each torrent. But ru/rtorrent was intended to define a pool of resources that is dynamically allocated amongst active torrents. Pools work better for well seeded torrents. And you are usually better off to allocate total bandwidth, number of peers, etc and let rtorrent play within that pool. But if you typically have a number of slow torrents, I can see how this might be a useful limitation to maximize your utilized bandwidth.

I tried limitation of download slot but didnt work I also write max_downloads_globa in rtorrent.rc bcause it wasnt exsist didnt work :( any other idea or there is no way to limit active download slot ?
