Default Computer geeks please come in.. noobs, stay OUT !!

Ok, this is not a HELP thread, is more like an advice request, but anyway.:

    This is my motherboard Here

This are the supported CPU`s Here

I`m an casual gamer, my main attention is on RPG`s and Adventure games. My video card is this one. I`m using all 3 video outs (2x DVI for my 2 monitors and 1x S-video for my TV). On my main monitor I run my daily interwebz, watch some movies and play games, on the second one I run tvonline (online tv channels) and on my TV I play cartoons for my kid. All of this from one PC.
So, my question is, what`s the CPU that you think will be the best for me and WHY ??

I tend to go for Core™ 2 Quad Q9550 ( you`ll find it the 6th on the list)

PS: I`m not about to buy no new motherboard, video card rams or anything else. I`m ONLY interested in the CPU. (my current one is an Pentium Dual-Core E5300 @ 2.60GHz)

    thank you.

Why are you looking to upgrade? What specifically are you looking to improve?

Personally I would say that unless you are going to spring for a new motherboard then its pointless to do a semi upgrade and just get a CPU. If you are looking for games to run a bit better I would say a better graphics card is the way to go.

The best option really in my opinion is to save up a bit more money and get a new CPU & mobo... an i5 or i7.
I might change my reasoning a bit more though if i knew what specifically you wanted to achieve.

I have two best options here.

    the Intel Core2 Quad Q8400 @ 2.66GHz and Intel Core2 Quad Q9500 @ 2.83GHz

I chose these option for you because first they are the best for price value, with these cpus sply the Q9500 is a really great option if you are

goin to overclock it. you just take it right up to 3.2g without any problem runs at very low temps and gives you the best for what you get.

as you have mentioned you do multitasking movies,tv etc well i can say these are the best cpus over a dual core even if you are not a

hardcore gammer this cpu does raise your standard upto it.

its a great chip it will last with for a long time and wont cost you much. Its not the best in the market compared to an i7 but it will do all your work just great.

    **some information**

    Intel Core2 Quad Q9500 @ 2.83GHz Benchmarks

    Intel Core2 Quad Q8400 @ 2.66GHz Benchmarks

    Intel Core2 Quad Q9550 @ 2.83GHz

Yeah, you might have missed my "PS". Anyway, I`m looking an processor for my PC, one to be like the lost shoe of Cinderella to say it like that. In this list you`ll find all the supported types of my motherboard, but as my whole PC is about 800-1000$, I`m not thinking to spend 500-600 on an CPU. So, I can`t afford the 5 ones, (I can afford thou, but I`m not gonna buy a 500$ piece if a 200$ CPU is more than enough for my needs), and this is where I need your advices, if you had, have or thinking to buy 1, which is it and why ?

    simple like that.

I believe that the Q8400 Will be very good for you. your current CPU the 5300 isn't that great now. A year ago I was using ATI hd 5770 with a 3.60 Pentium dual core. When I play games like crysis I don't get very good results. I used my brother pc which has a core2duo CPU with my ATI 5770. The results were very good.
So, if you by quad core CPU you will notice a big difference. One last thing if intend to overclock the CPU you should buy a CPU cooler.

The most important thing is now for u is cache and GHz....Buy a CPU which has more cache and GHz....
[ In game....GHz will help for smooth running]....[And cache is most important cuz every copying/extracting /data transfer/ memory work depends on it ]

There are other things...there different types of processor...classic, hyper-thread, extreme etc....most of the extreme processor are released late....cuz there r many added feature/things attached to them...I use P4 Hyper thread 3.00 GHz (my 2nd PC)...difference between a normal P4 and mine are far greater than u can imagine....and my friend use extreme P4 which has more features/facilities than my P4.....

    Look Here....Simple P4 | HT P4 (Mine)| Extreme P4 (M F's)= 1core, 1 thread | 1 core, 2 thread | 2 core, 2 thread

There is another example...2 friends...M & R...R had Core2 Duo Extreme and M had core2 Quad...Sometimes we all frnds argue with each other about PC Parts....one day R said about his Processor...what my extreme's single core can give, M's core cant give that much...we all were shocked and pissed...WTF he is saying....M was pissed too...then he showed us in the net where every forums showed that M's procsr only wins to extreme when a winrar extract the file.....M's processor core was not strong as Core 2 Dou extreme......

So try to buy the latest version of a series.....And in intel website, u'll find the feature list in the bottom of a prcsr's description....That's all...

The Q9550 is really at the sweet spot for price and performance. With a mild and easily obtained overclock the Q9550 would be faster than the stock clocked Q9650. I am sure you noticed there are two different steppings for this processor. Make sure to get the E0 to get the most bang for the buck if you want to overclock.

I didnt miss it, I just want to know what problems you are having currently and what you hope to have improve by upgrading the CPU. Depending on what you want, you may be better off upgrading another item in your PC. Why do you want to upgrade?

(edit: my logic being if you dont know the best CPU that you can have on that mobo then you might not know if a CPU is the best thing to upgrade)
