There's a report that ~200,000 p2p users have been/are being sued. Are these guys all users of public trackers or are users of private trackers getting screwed as well?

More than likely public trackers as it's really easy to gather up IPs through them, but not necessarily all of them, anti piracy groups can easily obtain access to some private trackers and just lurk in swarms gathering up IPs thats why it's better to use a seedbox regardless of how safe and private any one tracker is, best safe way to stay clear from law suits.
Most of them were probably public tracker users. Although they can get into private trackers it is harder. If you want to know the how likely your tacker you use is to get busted, base it off of how easy/hard it was for you to get into your private tracker.
Because who ever's busting people has to follow these rules to get into the tracker.
I', inclined to think they could fake tracker proofs, it doesn't take a genius to use mspaint.
The vast number of users sued are from public trackers, its a numbers game. They focus their attention on the largest sites. They mostly try to take those sites down but in the interim sue users to try to put people off pirating copywrite material. These are usually the ones that are sharing songs for anyone to download that are new and popular.... the more niche it is the less likely they will be busted.
End of the day, if you use a good private tracker you should be ok as it doesnt make logistical sense to target you. However if you use public trackers you are more likely to be busted... the chance however is still really small... as lets remember all the legal fees cost a lot of money so there is only so many people they can be entangled in a legal battle with.
As mentioned above, use a seedbox to not have your IP directly related to any of the downloads and your soooooo much safer (not to mention can download fast and seed like a crazy mofo)
Yeah but most interviewers check tracker proofs on said site.

Fluke, black writing on a black background really doesnt work well. I dont know if its a site issue or what.. just to let you know use a diff color :P
sorry about that
You have far more chance of "Being On The Radar" if you use public trackers - as previously mentioned the larger the site ISOHunt / BT Junkie etc the more chance of you being caught
It is more likely to be targeted when using public trackers, with no protection whatsoever, however in the end is just a numbers game, less than 1% of everyone who uses torrent get a warning, and within that 1%, even less get sued.
