Thread: How to unrar/unzip a double muti-rar/zip file?

Hi everyone,

This question might be silly for many of T-I members. Some of the torrents that I download consists of multirar/zip files. Eg A application of 500MB is broken into 10 multiples rar/zip files each of around 50mb. And each of these rar/zip files is present into another rar/zip files i.e each of the ten rar/zip files are in another 10 rar/zip files.

I tried the usual unrar/unzip applications but I don't know for double rar/zip files.

These problems have occurred to me for appz particularly.

its simple man just mark all rar files right click - extract here- another set of rar files will appear-again right click on new rar files-extract here-thats all
install WINRAR it will serve ur purpose

i also get irritated with rar inside rar ,dunno y these scene people like rar so much guess winrar n scene must be in liege

• Each of the segments of the split Zip file will have a different extension. WinZip creates files with names like Data.z01 or Data.zx01, Data.z02 or Data.zx02, and so on, except for the very last segment of the new Zip file. The last segment will always have either the .zip or .zipx extension , respectively, based on the compression method used when creating the Zip file (e.g., Data.zip, Documents.zipx).
• To open the split Zip file, open the file with the .zip or .zipx extension. Don't try to open any of the files with the numbered extensions; WinZip won't recognize them as Zip files.
• Once the split Zip file has been opened, you can work with it much as you would work with a regular Zip file, except you can't add any new files or remove existing files. Some operations such as creating self-extracting Zip files and editing comments are also disabled for split Zip files.
• The sizes listed as 1.2MB, 1.44MB, and 2.88MB are approximate. The segments of the split Zip file are sized appropriately to fit on media of the specified size. You cannot, however, use decimal points when specifying sizes in the Other size field.
• The split Zip file format is an extension of the Zip 2.0 specification. Therefore, some Zip utility programs may not be able to open split Zip files.

Right now this worked for me.

7zip>winrar but it's a moot point, they both do the same thing. I'll never understand why people do this. The other day I downloaded something that was 200mb, I forget what it was. But it was on mediafire and the guy did the .part1 .part2 thing. Fine, happens all the time. Right click. extract here. Okay, more rar files. Same thing. Right click. Extract here. WTF MORE RARS! On top of this, every single .rar had the same .nfo file in it so it kept asking me if I wanted to overwrite the previous one. Step one. Remove head from ass. Step two. Upload things in a normal fashion. Step 3. ???? Step 4. PROFIT

some scene stuff usually come in this format. just use winrar or an alternative. extract the first batch of rar files then you will get another set of rar files. then you just need to extract those files. if you are using winrar then right click on one of the rar files and select extract here from the popup menu. that will do the job. you just need to do that twice....

thats pretty much it use winrar or 7zip and right click it, extract to"it wil say the name of the file(s)". which will create a new folder with the new rar files and repeat.. i prefer winrar rather than 7zip but choose whatever floats your boat.. good luck

Winrar has been around for a while and has been proven as a solid tool for scene stuff. I usually do a ctr+a or highlight on all zip files and extract files.

In case of a double archieved/rar file (rar within rar) first extract all the outer rars in the same folder.
eg:- If a file has xyz.1 to 10 rars and then within each rar data.1-10 or data.rar to data9.rar then extract all the xyz rars in the same folder. So now you will be getting all the data.rar or data1-10/9rars.

In case of appz begin with the data.rar or data1.rar. Keep on adding what ever next rar it asks for and when you add the last rar the appz can be executed. (one of the most imp step is to begin with the just data.rar in some cases data1.rar or else it will give an error message that you have start from a previous volume)


Also you can extract the file to a different folder and keep the combined intact file for use whenever required later on.

In some cases the winrar or winzip might not work so you can use 7 zip or HJ split both these are free ware I guess (windows). (I didn't require these in my case).
