    Default MKV metadata editing

Okay so I've always had this problem with video files where all sorts of bullshit information like the release name is embedded in the files. ex. "Show.Name.S01E03.Blah.Blah.720p.WEB-DL.AAC.H264"
With .avi files, I have found tools to unfuck my video files. Now that I'm upgrading to 720p, I want a tool to remove the metadata from MKV files. I don't want to remux and all that, so mkvtoolnix and tools like that do not apply. And I tried all the tools on the official Matroska website. Does anyone know a tool for this so I can stop pulling my hair out, figuratively speaking?

Well I guess if you don't like metadata that much get a Hex Editor. Just overwite whatever you don't want with spaces, or change it, but don't make the title any longer or shorter byte wise or you'll mess up the mkv layout, and the mkv will cease to work (Yay!!!)

I don't have enough mkv's with titles to actually investigate it.

What you want is a MKV tag editor. I don't know if anyone has gotten around to writing one yet, but a Google search would answer that.

I've edited the metadata a few times by hand. It's stored as an XML file inside the MKV container. So one way to do this is to edit the XML file with your favourite text editor, then use MKVToolnix, specifically the mkvmerge attachments tab to append your edited XML file to the MKV container. MKV tag spec. If you find a point + click tag editor that is easier to use, let us know where you found it.

Didn't do a full search, but here is at least mention of a MKV tag editor if you want to run it to ground.

Yeah I read this article last night and it links to a broken program. Thanks though. I'll try the above suggestions and see how it works out.

Actually you can do it in mkvmerge GUI which is a part of mkvtoolnix and there's no need to remux.
Open it and select "Header editor" in "File" menu.
You can also write a .bat file to batch process files. Here's a guide: mkvpropedit
