seriously, one of the first things you have to do is a speedtest. internet speed to torrent client reference >>> 0.5Mb = 50kB and 1Mb = 100kB (rounded down a little ).

forwarding ports only helps your upload speed. download smth from megaupload and you'll see that you can hit your max down speed without those stupid ports.

seeder and leecher numbers DO MATTER!!! for the maximum results, you really should join private trackers. if you have puny speeds, look into BTN for tv stuff, PTM and IPT for general stuff and RUTRACKER for an e-penis enhancement (good music collection) - they all are either ratioless or childproof when it comes to holding your ratio.

knowing how to forward ports excludes you from being a total imbecile but not knowing your level of torrentness (i think i just discovered a new word ), i still have to deal with this problem as if you were a noob in the torrenting world. prove me wrong!!!

    what is your internet speed?
    what/who are "seeders" & "leechers"?
    have you any private trackers?
what is "cross-seeding"? (kinda off-topic but if you can answer this, then i salute you )

Idle musings while we wait to get back to the regularly scheduled program..

FWIW, there hasn't been nearly enough information from the OP yet for any of us to do more than make educated guesses. Troubleshooting tech problems over the internet resembles divination more than anything else. Invariably it's harder to extract enough information to work with than solving the problem per se. It's sometimes helpful to actually know what we are talking about - but most of the time it's more of a logistical exercise in lining up ducks to shoot. For anyone who might have occasion to post about an issue of their own in a future post; remember to shock us by actually providing the necessary information up front. This (almost) never happens of course, as someone who has deduced the difference between troubleshooting and clairvoyance will often solve the problem directly.

Imagine has gotten ahead of me here + taken the tack that I normally would. I pushed the router to the front of the line instead on the basis of the OP saying that he sees 200 KB/s with the same client/tracker/computer (but different router/ISP). If the OP is correct, then it's not the tracker/seeders/seedbox in this instance, but a problem with connectivity. Of course the devil is in the details and there are a lot of variables in play here. We don't know how the OP really tested that assertion so we'll circle back to it if anything else casts doubt on it or we run out of 'more likely' suspects.

It'll all sort it self out in short order either way. In the meantime, since it's still one big crap shoot, I'll be off to the side taking bets for the pool until the OP returns to the thread. House odds

I still say its the router myself as it seems to be a connectivity issue as the user seems to have used a few torrents on 2 different trackers. You would expect at least one of them to not have had an issue rather than all of them.

The problem users face when posting their problems is they generally dont know what information IS important (or they would be half way to solving it themselves) or merely forget at the time of posting. Its not like waiting a bit for the OP to post an update is an issue though, it makes these interesting betting pools on which issue it is happen :P

Well, I can't say precisely why, but I'm up to about 400kB/s on average coming down from TPB now. extremeshare runs at about 1.5MB/s.

speedtest.net shows me at 10Mb/s down and 1-2Mb/s up (Byte / bit case is correct [edit for case... how ironic, but glad I caught it on the proofread] )

what is your internet speed? -
    above

    what/who are "seeders" & "leechers"? -
seeders have downloaded the file in its entirety and are providing any part of the file requested to anyone else. Leechers are in the process of assembling a complete copy of file in question.

have you any private trackers? -
    extremeshare.org

    what is "cross-seeding"?
(kinda off-topic but if you can answer this, then i salute you ) -well now I'm stumped.

To summarize the changes I made, I read through the guide on connectability to make sure that I was up to speed there. Vuze is now set up with an appropriately forwarded port. I also went through the vuze guide on encryption and set mine up with the level "3". I also set up the upload limit with a value corresponding to about 75% of my upload speed. Between that host of things, I've moved from 1kB/s to 300-400kB/s. Problem solved.

Glad to hear it, sounds like you have solved your issue.

Also in regards to cross seeding look at this thread: How to Cross-Seed safely
Its pretty useful so learn it!

one more thing you should keep in mind. peers (seeders & leechers) on public trackers aren't insisted on holding their ratio so...whenever i download smth from a public tracker, i limit my upload so that most of my up speed goes where it really matters (i.e. private trackers). i'm 100% sure i'm not the only one that does so.

and somehow i really doubt that vuze solved your problems. i think that you got a new torrent which had more traffic on it and now you're mislead, though i hope it's all good now. we'll see in a couple of days

Haha, well I was back and forth between Vuze and Transmission trying to solve this and I did see the initial problem in both places. I was focused on Transmission for a while but switched to Vuze part way through. Still using the same torrent though.

    Are you from the UK?

My connection died last week for a few days, after countless phone calls I found out that people using another ISP but on the BT telephone network were having problems, BT re-routed all traffic, which meant it took forever to get to you. All has now been fixed and My connection has went from 2Mbit to 6.5Mbit after they upgraded my exchange too!

(this does not apply if BT is your ISP, or your ISP has their own network)

Just incase your from the UK, this may give you some answers :) if not, ignore me!
