Did you install/uninstall anything before that happened?
I can think of some causes:
_You just install/remove some clone drive software.
_Your HDD have bad areas.
_Your power supply is not enough.
_Something's wrong with the cable or fan system.
I suggest you make a disk check. But if it's the first time then there's no need to worry about. If it repeats later then you can start worrying.

im useing Virtual Clone Drive but its installed on the other HD.
Hard Disk Sentinel
Hard Disk Sentinel - HDD health and temperature monitoring
this is best program if you want to see if you HDD is fine... install and report back what the program tell you :)
The drive found 53 bad sectors during its self test.
There are 89 weak sectors found on the disk surface. They may be remapped any time in the later use of the disk.
At this point, warranty replacement of the disk is not yet possible, only if the health drops further.
It is recommended to examine the log of the disk regularly. All new problems found will be logged there.
It is recommended to backup immediately to prevent data loss.
estimated lifetime remaining: 83 days
so?!
just wait till he will die?
this is bad news for you :S like it says first make a backup of all your data you need copy to other drive than:
If that was my drive i would try to run a Disk Check - Windows 7 Forums
Than if this won't help and it won't lol i would format the drive with this program HDDGURU: HDD Low Level Format Tool <- this program need a lot of time about 10 h or more and it might help your drive. There is no safe to have files you need on that drive even the Hard Disk Sentinel show that drive is fine after you run this programs. When some drive start to corrupts than you have to buy a new one. That programs can buy you some time but the drive will die maybe tomorrow maybe next year you can't never know![]()
well thats the 2nd time for me with WD..
to bad , ill just wait it will die then ill use the warranty.
anyway thx a lot!
I'd definitely get a new drive before this one dies - Even if you do get the drive replaced under warranty, the data will be forever lost unless you pay a great deal (Read: upwards of $1000) for a physical recovery of the drive.
1TBs are cheap nowadays anyway - Some (NOT all) Samsung drives have proven to be extremely reliable, as well as quiet and fast. The Spinpoint F4 1TB is a drive I'd recommend. If you get a new drive and image the old one using something like Norton Ghost, you needn't lose any data through the warranty replacement of your 1TB drive. Then, of course, you have 1TB more space when the new WD drive shows up
Just my two cents.
