Thread: What do private trackers think of TI ?

Hi, guys. I just got repped and spending my time reading a lot of stuff on the forum.
But I read something about private trackers banning you when they find out you are a member of TI.

Is that true ? Because it also seems that some private trackers are actually involved in this site and communicate with staff IRC.

What are the private trackers that ban you when they know you are involved in TI? And why ? I think that TI is a community from which private trackers benefit. Because there is no account trading and people here have to follow strict rules.

Why would private trackers forbid TI ? Or be against it? How else would people give away invites or ask them ?
I rather give an invite to a trusty member here then to a real life friend who want to start downloading from torrents but is a newbie in computers.

Anyway I want to know which private trackers ban for TI involvement.
If in the future I will give away some invites and there is a dispute and I don't know this.
Then what will happen is that I contact some moderator from my private tracker and when he finds out I am on TI he will ban me.

So that's why I ask.

Most will agree the consensus with most if not all trackers is that they still frown upon sites like this one regardless on how hard we try to enforce no trading and selling. Though it's evident there are site reps here represented in the tracker recruitment section, there's a reason T-I still enforces properly edited ratio proofs and different usernames than that of the trackers you're a part of. It's true that T-I is a very kind and giving community of like minded file sharers, but respect the anonymity T-I requests of you and for your own safety never mention you got your invite from here. The rule amongst all trackers are that you get your invites from real life friends. We all know this is impossible, but for the sake of following the rules just say that you did.

I agree with you that I would be 99% more comfortable giving my invites to another T-I user who at least has some sort of experience over one of my 'real life friends' who knows nothing. Have a read: Who do you give invites to?

There is a owner of a private tracker I know in real life. I am going to ask him what he things of TI.

though most trackers don't bother with T-I i guess, some trackers certainly don't want their invites to be distributed in forums.
nonetheless read the rules about ratio editing and username must be diff that from the tracker usernames to remain on the safe side

what bothers me the most is that they wave their fingers at us with snobby comments like "oh, t-i is full of traders and cheaters. they all lie and steal from the good people we have on our tracker" (*read with a hillbilly accent for full realness) but somehow they don't see or realize that giving away an account or invites to people who "donate" is the same f-ing thing . double standards i guess...

also, how many of you have given an invite to a person you have met in real life? 10 people out of a 1000? t-i peeps aren't that different from any other members and the same basic math applies to them too. tracker staff should know better or they're just ignorant.

i've got more widdy remarks to make but i don't want to be all on rampage with this thing. i godda say i respect the tracker staff that have been around this area. they've seen how valuable t-i is by bringing in people around the world with the same common interests - downloading stuff they like. we've also got an active community (better than most of the trackers have ) that "does important stuff" and the info you can find in here, whether it be tutorials or reviews, is everything a guy could need before joining a tracker he is interested in.


now if they knowingly ask you where you got your invite from, then i wouldn't lie (and i didn't ). you win some, you lose some...

You can get invites in the power user forums at trackers as well. Giving invites in PU+ forums on other trackers is generally allowed by the private trackers, but then a lot of people there don't do much checking if any before giving out invites in there. They do less checking than we seem to do here actually, often if it is a good tracker we ask for 3 ratio proofs, speedtest, etc... this is usually not the case in private tracker forums. IMHO, private trackers probably get just as many bad apples (if not more) through that method than they do through T-I.

Private trackers wanna be protected from bad users, that's acceptable and when they hear that you invited someone from a forum they get pissed off.
That's why we try here in T-I (with proofs, profile links etc.) to select good and trustworthy users for invitees. Personally i don't use T-I's name in any tracker...just in case :)

Probably it is just misinformed or prejudiced siteops that don't even bother to listen what strict rules are in place here.
They heard about those ugly trading boards and therefore every board offering invites has to be of that kind and need banning...

People need to differentiate more or there will always be those wrong accusations...But not everyone is like that, as our site reps fortunately indicate.

We are among the biggest bt forums around, so tracker's staffs know very well how things work here. What most don't like is that we won't kiss their asses like some other sites and we aren't they private feud to do what they please or control.

Some know sites that ban members here just for the sake of banning are fux0r and x264.me
