    Default Upload speeds..

Just kind of getting into private torrents and I'm have a huge issue getting anything out of my Upload speeds, speedtest shows me getting 2mb/sec upload speed but I never get over 10kb/sec to upload in utorrent..

it is giving me huge issues because I can't see to download more then 1 thing a month with that kind of ratio.. is there anything I can do to boost that upload speed or is 2mb/sec just THAT bad?

2 MB/sec is not a bad connection. The problem is probably the torrents that you are downloading. To get good upload speeds, you need to be connected to many peers. Try to find popular and new torrents that you know many people will download (ie recently released tv episode) or get freeleech packs if your trackers have them. You can try to optimize your client by tweaking settings, port forwarding, etc., but I think the major problem is the torrents you are downloading. Look in your client to see the seed to leech ratio and it may tell you why you aren't getting good upload speeds.

Your upload speeds are actually decent, but there are other factors that affect upload speed as well.

First and foremost, are you connectable?

Secondly, it's also dependent on the torrent itself.
    - There might be more seeders than leechers
    - The number of leechers might be deceiving (some people "stop downloading" but still appear as leechers if they haven't got 100% of the file)

Jump on popular and new torrents. Usually, the moment they're released is when you can really get the most out of it. Get the torrent before everybody else does, so everyone will be leeching off of you.

Like Vogue said, make sure you are connectable.

Mean you have your router port open that the uTorrent client users.

For a step by step guide on how to open your ports go to this website

Port Forwarding Guides Listed by Manufacturer and Model - PortForward.com

then find the route brand and model number from the list and click it

The next list shows applications to open ports for, click uTorrent.

A guide will appear showing you step by step on how to open your port on your brand/model for your router while using uTorrent.

Then after that start downloading the newest most popular torrent you can find that does not have many seeders and tons of leechers.

oh and one last thing if your running any sort of Software filewall that is standalone or might come with your antivirus make sure uTorrent has an exception rule added for the port uTorrent is using.

Thanks guys, I think my issue is being seen.. my issue atm is I'm going through both my router and my brothers, taking connection from his router and my router..

Gonna have to figure out a way to just use one I think cause forwarding seems like a headache with 2 routers

Kyur, welcome to Canada! Almost all of the big ISPs throttle BT traffic, it often doesn't matter what your UL speed is.

Did you have better UL speeds on new movies and such from The Pirate Bay or other popular trackers? Port forwarding may be part of the problem, but I think that Shaw might be throttling. You'd have to compare your results to a popular torrent on a public tracker to know for sure.

I opened my ports did everything I could, still getting 1-10 kb/sec upload speed. It's better, more steady, it looks like peers actually stay connected.. but it's still horribly slow.

I'm seeding something that has 125 seeds and 99 peers, I dunno if it's going to get any better then that, but I'm keeping a constant 10kb/sec with 10 peers are always connected to me..

TBH I have ALWAYS had issues with upload speeds since forever.. I tried streaming video a while back nearly shot myself trying to get it to look even decent, I figured this was because of me not opening ports or something, I knew it was bad for Shaw but I didn't think it was this bad.. I had the same issues with Telus too.

So am I stuck at 1-10kb/sec for life or is there a way around this in Canada? would calling and yelling about false advertisement help? lol..

Shaw doesn't throttle like BT upload that; that's not your problem. Either you're on torrents that nobody is downloading (remember that peers might all actually be complete partial downloads of packs, etc), or you've got a routing problem.

Being connectible is very important; if you've solved that, that's one step of the way.

Hop on a TPB torrent that's super popular and seed for a bit; do you get decent UL speeds?

Oh im glad i found this thread...
I think I have the same issue. I've got like 1.5 mb/s upload speed, and when I upload in TPB my UL speeds are higher than on tha private trackers I use, is there anything I could do to fix that?
On the other hand though, the private trackers im using have way more seeds than leechers so that might be it too.
    Any help is appreciated
