Thread: Instant alerts for posts with keywords?

I'm interested to see if anyone knows of a way to see when a post with certain keywords shows up in T-I. I don't think there's any way to so that with the forum software, but is there a way to do that via google or another indexing site?



Specifically, I'd like to see when a new post shows up with my nickname in it, because I'd like to see when a post is reported in a section that I moderate.

I'm sure there are a few sites for doing that trick, but it won't be of any help if you're only concerned about reported posts because they are private and can't be indexed or seen by any other site.

I'm sure there's some software available that can spider the site at an interval and match keywords that are user specified.
If not, I could probably be persuaded to write it. It's pretty straightforward.

As sTuDD mentioned, the biggest issue is that the subforums I'd like to have these notifications on are all security-restricted. OxC0FF33, if you don't mind trying to code something up, I'd be happy to help test it - I'm sure it's something many people would appreciate!

Sure, I can take a swing at it. I have some time before I start this new gig.
Note that this is going to be a pretty basic tool that may put a strain on the server if more than a few people are running it. If the forums had some sort of universal "All threads and posts created" RSS feed, it would make this a bit simpler and reduce the hit on the webserver as well. Just a thought.
