Thread: Rtorrent start problem

Hi folks Im new user with ubuntu my problem is after I reboot my PC I cant loging from browser

[09.05.2011  20:45:30] Bad link to rTorrent. Check if it is really running. Check  $scgi_port and $scgi_host settings in config.php and scgi_port in  rTorrent configuration file.

Im getting this messege after I re install everything work but I dotn want to re install every time How can I make run my rtoorent after getting time out problem and re boot

in your terminal, type

screen rtorrent

then press ctrl a then ctrl d to make it run in the background (detatch from your screen session). if you don't have screen, run

sudo apt-get install screen

You do know you need rTorrent running on the machine to get ruTorrent running right?

and I dont know how to run Ru toorent too I got lunix yesterday I almost learned everyting I want I only get problem with this whatI need to do if you explainme step by step would be nice for me

It might be - is there any rtorrent.lock file in session directory? if yes, Delete that and restart rTorrent again...

You need to create a config file. To be honest, i'd suggest you leave rTorrent and install deluge until you're a bit better with linux. It's going to be a pain for you otherwise. There's a tutorial for deluge+ubuntu here:

ps, there are lots of normal torrent clients like uTorrent with a proper GUI and everything in linux too if you thought this was the only option.

I liked rotoorent I know to use utoorent but Rtorrent is low cpu usgage I like this so much

BTW @MCool there is rtorrent.lock in seasson I deleted it now I tried many time to restart but never started agian maybe it start now I will test it and write here thanks for helping me

BTW some times I get request timeout problem is that normal for Rtorrent ?

IF any one get some problem after deleting rtorrent.lock it start otomaticallt after reboot just in case I write here to tell solition
