Thread: Using iPhone to send torrents to seedbox?

Does anybody use their iPhone to send .torrent files to their seedboxes for download?

If you do how do you do it? I have a jailbroken iPhone 4 on 4.2.1 and ruTorrent on my seedbox.

Does anybody use another smartphone to do the same thing if its not possible on the iPhone? I may think about switching phones in that case!

I use TransDroid to control ruTorrent from my android phone.
Works brilliantly. Absolutely superb program. Can even create torrents!

Anyway on topic, I hanv't heard about anything for the iPhone, but an extensive google came up this, which seems interesting!

Thanks but I was hoping to find someone who uses their iPhone toactually control rTorrent via some kind of front-end I am yet to find any evidence of that program working :-

Well as I said, TransDroid is truly epic.
I can basically do everything from my phone that i can from the webgui!

I have Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro.

Well I don't know about a front-end, but you can send torrents to a watch directory via an ftp client on your iphone. There was never any iphone torrent app because apple discouraged it and rejected all of them even if they were slightly related to torrents. I know this doesn't apply to jail broken iphones but it can still have an influence on developers.

I was trying to figure out why there was an app for Android and not iPhones. It makes perfect sense with your explanation. I've been using Transdroid as well and it is absolutely flawless. I've considered moving to the iPhone but this would actually make me think twice.

Good idea Synth, I can download my torrent using Safari Download Manager and I can access my seedbox using ftp but as far as I can see there is no way to upload the .torrent file to my watch folder as the file is stored in somewhere you can not get to..

Has anyone done this and can tell me how?

Yes Pitchback, the iPhone is very limited in some respects even if you jailbreak it. I don't think I would advise anyone to get one.. The other drawback is that you can't watch flash videos on the web.
