Thread: Invited someone to TL and he's doing poorly, what do I do?

He's on TL from the 25th of April, which is not long but since he's downloaded 16.5GB and uploaded only 600MB. His ratio is 0.04.

This guy has a decent connection (18D 3U), decent ratios, and he's been there only for a week but I get the feeling he won't be able to recover with such attitude.

What do I do?

im in a similier situation. i received an invite to TL and have downed a little over 4G in about 6 days, but have only uploaded 650mb. To me its the wait times for the newer stuff. where as on demon, which i joined about the same time im already very close to positive. {as of monday i will be} i dont have wait times on demon.

hi Next-Gen, I must admit when I first joined TL I also got very low ratio due to my own stupidity, I personally think it can be a very difficult tracker to seed especially at the start. perhaps you could try to pm him here and express your concerns , it is hard to speculate when we don't know exactly what's going on

In general what graphic said already. Sending a PM asking kindly if it was intentional or by mistake would be a good start to maybe give him some advice in form of T-I tutorial-treads concerning maintaining good ratio.

Aside from that TL is a special case because of the huge wait times for new torrents. There is almost no way to maintain a good ratio without cross-seeding, as long as you are in this waittimes. If the guy already has some good trackers with a nice ratio as you have mentioned before, he should be fine seeding some of the torrents from there.

I guess he just might have underestimated the time torrents die out in terms of leechers on such trackers. They become just well seeded too quickly.

If that is the case you will definitely figure something out, but that is only possible by talking to him personally.

If he on the other hand just doesn't care about the ratio and tracker at all it's a whole different story. In that case post here again and there are obviously ways to deal with that kind of bad stuff :(

great example will be tonite. i want to down the new episode of game of thrones. im going to have to wait on TL, so il be getting it from Demon.
Its a catch 22 on TL. I want to down with them, but i have to wait sometimes 35-40 hours. Im myself am wondering what to do???

you need to cross seed in the beginning in TL like from ipt, torrent damage or a similar site, it is easy and will help you immensely with your ratio, especially with a hot torrent like games of throne, but demonoid is not the place to get files to cross seed. If you do not understand what cross seed is read the following How to Cross-Seed safely if you need help with anything shoot me a PM. So my opinion is to offer him advice to the above-mentioned via PM and hope that he can grasp the concept of cross seeding and get positive as TL is a tough site to survive in at the beginning

When I invite users to torrentleech, after sending the invite I give them few points of instructions explaining to them how to get a good ratio, telling them about cross seeding, I refer them to cross seeding topic here at T-I and give them a heads up about what possibly happen to their account because of wait time restrictions. When I was invite to torrentleech by a friend of mine, my ratio had dropped to 0.017 because I didn't knew about any of these tricks, only if my inviter had told me, I wouldn't had face this situation, however I was able to get my ratio to above 4 within a week.

You can cross-seed very easily from IPt. They have all the same stuff and more, and sometimes quicker by a minute or so as well.

if he has the budget, tell him to invest in a cheap seedbox for a month. that should help. ;)
