Default Remotely downloading files from seedbox to pc using cuteFTP?

    Okay this is the thing..

I am a coach driver and I'm away from home a lot but I have access to mobile broadband using my laptop. I often download stuff to my seedbox while I'm out and about but then I have to FTP it to my home computer when I get home.

Ideally a web-GUI for cuteFTP would be ideal and amazing, but I can't see that ever being implemented.

So my thinking is... I can use ruTorrent to move my files from the "data" folder on my seedbox to a subdirectory for example "data/pc". This is no problem.

My question is: Is there an easy way to make cuteFTP automatically watch and grab the files fom "data/pc" so they are on my pc when I get home from work?

I have heard it is possible to set up cuteFTP to watch a folder where a .torrent file is sent from an RSS feed is and upload to the watch folder in ruTorrent so it can be automatically downloaded so I think there must be a way to do a similar thing in reverse?

Thanks in advance for any help any of you peeps can give!

Try this: Synchronizing Folders Using the Folder Synchronization Wizard

I just tested it and it seems to work quite well. Considering I only wanted to mirror the contents from my remote server, it did the job. Just note that if you move the contents from the folder, it'll continue to download the files unless you've deleted it from the folder you're watching.

Edit: Oohhhh, you could watch multiple folders and schedule tasks as well.

Cool, looks interesting will do some experimenting myself before I set it up properly as point number 10 in the article you linked to looks confusing...

"To make the mirrored folder a strict duplicate of the source folder, select the When one way mirroring, delete the destination file if it does not exist in the source folder check box. This updates old files and deletes unused files. If you clear this check box, the extra files present in the mirrored folder are left in place."

Say for example I download a film from my seedbox, after I have watched it I may decide its crap and delete it but still may wish to seed it if its a popular torrent. In that case I would have to try and set it up so it doesn't just delete it from my seedbox as well! I suppose it depends which way the 'one-way-mirror' was set and I would have to clear the check box as mentioned in the quote above!

Its all a bit confusing at the moment but I'm sure all will become clear when I start to play around with it. I'm supprised there is no guide on this subject as I'm sure it is something a lot of people would be interested in. Once I have it all set up and working properly I will do a guide when I have time.

Looks like this program could come in useful in my quest: See and Be - AutoUnpack - Home then my films really would be ready to watch when I get home.

Only because I'm too lazy to look this up in detail. does CuteFTP support multithreading?

Yes it does! And I'm not trying to sell it for anyone or anything but it really is the coolest and best FTP program out there! I actually find the transfers faster than FileZilla..

Anyway.. I've got it all the remote transfering all set up now and its working so I will do a complete step-by-step guide on how I did it as soon as I have time, hopefully tommorow. :)

    Glad you have it sorted.
Anyway, I was going to ask you if Linux is an option.

What I got in place to resolve the same problem is a simple rsync command in the crontab of my home linux box (could have been at the seedbox, but I am awry on installing my public RSA keys in machine I don't own) which hourly synchs the remote box's downloads folder with my home linux box (storage/media server). In an emergency, I can manually invoke it (or any other more complex tasks) from work trough ssh.

Works like a charm and took 2 mins to set up, so here is a suggestion :)
