a decent oscillating fan does nicely, but can get noisy. They make a few window units that use dual-fans to move air in or out of a room amazon is a good place to look for them (most run off of a regular plug and fit many size windows). It could be happening due to an insulation problem (i.e. theres a weak spot somewhere) Is your room over a garage or near an addition to the building?
it depends on where the room is and where its facing and what you have in the room (pcs, tvs, monitors etc all add to the heat)
try using fans if they dont make much of a difference then you need to look into what kinda ventation your room has (kinda think of it like a big ass computer box) you need to have a way of getting the hot air out and at the same time suck cool air in
curtians and blinds can also warm the place up (heavier ones can trap the hot air in and lighter ones just let the heat in and distrupts airflow) unless they are those sun/UV blocker ones which can stop the heat from comming in theres also heat reflecting film you can get for the windows
theres also other ways like get a tray/bowl of ice and put it infront of the fan or get a box fan and put a wet towel over the top of it
ive even put one fan infront of another and even with only the back one turned on the front one spins and speeds up the airflow cooling the air a little bit more

I'm not sure how much you're willing to put into this but I had a similar problem with the room above my garage. The problem is a garage door is a perfect place for the weather outside to seep into your house and heat or cool the place above it. If it gets colder in that room than others in the winter than this is the most likely problem, there are some solutions though!
What i found worked nicely is to either talk to a contractor or get one of the many different DIY solutions. Make sure you get something that's decent but still within your price range. If it is your garage another solution would be to cool off the garage with a few fans. The reason your room is so hot is that the heat from the garage is rising upward and heating up your floor, not to mention attics are notoriously hot under the sun, so your room is basically sandwiched inside of an oven so to speak. I'd suggest either insulating the garage or investing in some fans (for your room or the garage if they're too loud in your room).
also a space heater in the winter if it gets super cold in your room, they sell little tiny ones for pretty cheap that run off AC power.
I have pretty much the same situation. Very small room right above the garage.
If you are insistent on keeping the door closed I'm afraid you can't do much, as stifling good ventilation/airflow definitely won't help keep your room cool.
During the summer when it's blazing hot I keep a fan facing inwards with the door open to help circulate the air and keep it nice and cool. ^^
I've also removed the heavy curtains that used to be in front of my windows, which did help.
If it's sunny, keep the blinds closed to get some shade.
My room gets that way also for a few reasons. The sun rises on the side of the house my room is on. I'm in here constantly, so body heat. And my computer is generally on whenever I'm awake so the heat from that. Open a window, get an oscillating fan, take a walk to the bathroom and occasionally spritz yourself with cold water. Do you have central air conditioning? We have that but the vents need to be finagled sometimes to reach me directly.

that's the basically the same stuff I used, just make sure you ventilate the area by opening the garage door slightly and putting some fans to blow any fumes out. It was pretty easy and got the job done. also this is the fan I mentioned:
Amazon.com: Holmes Window Fan w/ Accutemp Plus, HAWF3095-U: Home & Garden
you can normally get them at like lowes and other home improvement stores, and even like target or walmart probably carries them. it's best to shop around on amazon to find one that meets your needs, but they're generally very quiet and have reversible directions to either suck air in or blow air out.
Or an air-conditioner lolWhat about a roof fan?
BTW dont know what a 'evaporative cooler' is. I thought the dehumidifier was for only for allergic reasons, not to warm down the room
