    Default utorrent seed/peer question

    Hello everyone,

I've never seemed to notice this before or payed much attention until now.

Say a brand new torrent comes out that says 1 seed and 3 peers. I download the torrent and start it in utorrent which also shows 1 seed and 3 peers.

After a while I refresh the website I got the torrent from and the website says 3 seeds and 555 peers. I notice that utorrent still shows 1 seed and 3 peers and the DL/UL is still slow.

After I stop the torrent and clear the peers list and restart the torrent, this is when I see the 3 seeds and 555 peers and my speed increases dramatically.

So my question is, is there anyway to get the seed/peer list to be updated automatically or is this just part of the features?

It seems like if it doesn't update automatically, there is no point in being one of the first persons to jump on a new file.

    Thanks.

^^^ public tracker? or Demonoid? i'm sure it's one of those two.

next time you could try Updating the trackers or if that doesn't help, just restart the torrent. i know when you stop a torrent, it sends a report to the tracker (or smth) of how much traffic you've been through. atleast that's how they explained Demonoid stats can be updated.

There is an option in uTorrent of updating Tracker. When you click on it, it updates the tracker stats and the new peers and are added automatically. Hope it helps.

With any speed issues the first thing to check would be are you connectable? read about it here.

but Imagine is right, if it is demonoid or a public tracker you are only going to be able to download as fast as that initial seeder can upload!....no matter how many peers you are connected to!

    Thanks for the replies.

Being connectable shouldn't be the issue as I always set static IP's, port forward, etc., for every computer.

I didn't use any public trackers and didn't use demonoid. This happened for TvT so I dunno.

Is there anyway to set utorrent to automatically update the seed/peer list? I don't want to sit around the computer and have to update manually each time or monitor my DL/UL.
