    Default UPLOAD SPEED

I have done a general search and found little to nothing on speed. In ordered to be a successful torrent guru you must have the correct tools or a lot of patience. I would like to know besides buying into the highest internet service what else I can do to increase my UPLOAD speed. Ports are forwarded and open?

There isn't anything that you can do that I'm aware of.
Click setup guide in uTorrent (if that's what you are using) and it should configure settings for the most stable/quickest upload and download.

yeah it has to do with your isp some providers are better than others, also has to do with your geographical location as some country got lousy service

Transmission seems to work well (Mac), I tried VUSE but seemed overrated. Well I reside in Florida, my average upload is 500kps. I was promised 5mps.

    Thanks,

You were probably promised 5 megabits per second. You have to divide 5mbits by 8 to get your actual speed.

(5*1024) / 8= 628. You probably aren't maxing out your connection because there aren't enough peers or somesuch.

For instance: I can download 2.3 megaBYTES per second, but my actual speed is 19 megaBITS per second.

    thanks,
This has historical reasons when hardware resources in computing were very limited and not much information could be stored at once because of low memory-space. One character of the alphabet could very conveniently be stored in 8 "bits" Therefore the unit "byte" was created for that purpose.

Just for a better understanding. The term mbyte is often used misleading for mbit by the providers (on purpose or not, who knows ;)).

As one byte always consists of 8 bits you need to use the before mentioned formula when dealing with speed descriptions.

Traffic speed has always its limits in routing. If you are connected to someone on the other side of the planet it is generally much slower than within your own country. This could also be a reason for your slow connections to peers.

you can always try a seedbox but i think that using utorrent and having a bit a patince you will find usefull your home connections.
