And I hardly need to pack up my bag. I just had this discussion with my teachers in school (about milk), since I'm studying to become a chef, it's important information to have. And no, you don't need milk, IF you eat a diet that's healthy and does not contain so much fast food (which contains a lot of compressed nutrients at once - for example, one pizza contains all the calories you need for a whole day ~2200kcal), the nutritions you'll get during a properly variated diet will be sufficient. Also a variated diet means; variated due to your needs and the work you do. If you'er in school, studying, you need one kind of diet and someone who works with physically heavy jobs needs a differnt one. All depending on how your life looks like. None of these really need milk - if they get enough variation.
+1 with everything you said above. i'm a personal trainer and people who sit at a desk all day should probably get 2000cals/day. people like me who who do power lifting should consume 3500cals/day if 150lbs+, 4200cals/day if 175lbs+, 5000cals/day if 200lbs+ but of course they are estimated for workouts consisting of power lifting for about an hour. if you're not trying to gain muscle, just trying to cut, everything here changes. and skim milk (0%) is a great supplement to have on a cutting cycle and that's a fact!

Since we don't have skim milk here, I have no idea on how it works.

    But thank you.
Nice to see that we agree =)

Milk is good, why take a look at your mom for example or any woman, they most likely will be taking calcium pills, as most women do not drink milk, there bones will deteriorate as time goes on. Milk -> Calcium, that's what builds bones [osteoblast]

    Milk, Meat, Potatoes...lol.

Really though I think most anything that is food or drink is ok in moderate amounts unless you are allergic to it or something like that.

There's no question that any type of milk is healthy.
It contains both whey and casein protein - whey breaks down quickly and casein much slower.
Think of it as a combination of quick-acting and time-released.
Great to start your day, and also great before bed.

In any case, what you may or may not have heard could possibly be referring to rbST, or rBGH,
which are growth hormones given to cows to increase their milk output. The issue with these
hormones is that they have carcinogenic effects and can increase the risk of several types of
    cancer.

That said, there is generally a message somewhere stating something along the lines of either:
"from cows not treated with rbST"
    "no significant difference blah blah"

Obviously go for the one NOT treated with rbST, if at all possible.

I don't have time to look it up right now, but if I recall correctly, I think several of the larger
grocery stores now only take milk from cows NOT treated with rbST, so that's good news.

What Ironz said is pretty much right from the last time I listened to a health expert. If you're eating a healthy balanced diet, you don't need any dairy and that includes milk.

The problem with these so called health experts, today they believe one thing, and tomorrow it's completely different.

The truth of the matter, one item like milk in moderation is unlikely to make that much of a difference in your health one way or another, unless it's poison to you.

Food for thought.... If milk is so good, why don't calves even drink it? (personally don't think it's that relevant, but it does make you wonder)... and really, who was the sick individual who thought.... oh look, a cow's udder... lets suck on this!.. and milk was born.
