    Default New Nutritional Plate Chart

Well, I went to see a nutritionist approx. a month ago because I was dedicated to losing weight. She had mentioned a new nutritional chart that replaced the old food pyramid. It breaks the plate down into four sections. (Fruit, Vegetable, Protein, and Grain). As far as in between meals, she recommended eating fruits or vegetables. Here is what the chart looks like:

At first I was very skeptical of this plan, since none of my previous diets had worked, but I gave this a try anyway. The first week I lost about 4 lbs, and have been losing about 2-3lbs each week. I know it's not a rapid loss, but it worked for me. The hardest thing I had a problem with was finding out how I could have a vegetable for breakfast. I ended buying some small V8 vegetable juice cans that give one serving per breakfast. I started trying the Chobani Yogurt for protein + fruits, and then had a small bit of cereal with milk to cover the grain/dairy. I know it's not always easy trying to match everything on that plate with every meal.

Some of the tricks / tips to go with this plan was:
    - drink a glass of water before every meal so you get full faster
    - choose smaller plate sizes
    - make sure not to skip any meals

Please, feel free to post if you have any suggestions or ideas about the new nutritional chart.

    Hi Phyrexian,

Did you know there are approximately 38,000 Christian denominations in the world all professing to derive their beliefs from the same book? Nutrition "science" is very much like that. There are countless conflicting "schools" each advocating its dietary regimen as the best. Unfortunately, imho, the vast majority of what passes for "professional" dietary advice is not based on sound nutrition science, nor on unbiased, peer-reviewed, independent studies and trials using solid scientific methods. The "research results" are bought and paid for by mega-food corporations who have serious agendas which always place profit before people.

The USDA food pyramid imo, is propaganda, pure and simple, bought and paid for by the international mega-food corporations that have undue influence on policy-making bureaucrats. The USDA food pyramid has zero to do with solid nutrition but it has everything to do with pushing products derived from commodity agriculture which is owned by these fascistic mega-corps. Which explains the huge servings of grain the chart recommends. Commodity agriculture produces vast mountains of cheaply-produced grains and soy that generate fortunes for the corporations while taking their toll on human health. They make an enormous fortune off the sale of food based on the proportions recommended in the bogus chart.

The average dietitian/nutritionist is woefully misinformed, uninformed and disinformed and makes recommendations that have no basis whatsoever in science. But don't believe anything I just wrote. May I suggest you check out the educational materials of Sally Fallon and Mary Enig which are widely available (see Amazon reader reviews) and the Weston A. Price website run by Sally Fallon. Imho, these two woman are world-class, unbiased, extremely knowledgeable professionals who only want the best for people. Their books and videos are saturated with extensively researched, solid science that is clearly presented and which laymen can understand and adopt with a minimum of confusion and doubt.

Be aware, though, that for most people shifting deeply-entrenched beliefs about diet/nutrition is very difficult as they prefer their false certainty over confusion which researching these subjects deeply can generate. But without developing real discrimination one is prey to self-styled authorities who also lack discrimination or who have not researched the subject well or who operate from long-standing assumptions which they only seek to confirm while ignoring whatever does not support their beliefs. Simplistic dietary nostrums from possibly well-meaning but ignorant people who call themselves nutritionists does far more harm than good. Seek the highest quality materials and educate yourself. I have found it a very challenging but deeply satisfying experience.

    Hope this helps!

I think you are misunderstanding the intention of my post. I was just posting this nutritional chart as something that I used and am still using to lose weight. This chart worked for me purely alone due to the fact that I used to consume over 4000 calories a day, and have cut those calories in half if not more. That alone has been a blessing in itself.

In no way am I looking for a debate. The intention of this post was just to let others know that I have been succeeding with this plan, and if others seemed to be stuck on their diet and or plan, that this might work for them as well.
