Thread: Cartography / Anyone else?

Thought I would introduce myself in the graphic design forum, as it's more familiar to me than the torrent world. I'm fairly new to private trackers, but I want to be in the club! I normally waste my time making strategy game maps. Most recently, for the site majorcommand.com - which is like Risk, but only different.

It's not my real job, just a hobby that sometimes pays a few bucks. I really enjoy cartography and art. Technical yet interpretive. Linked to a couple of my maps below. First two are for the MajorCommand site. Imagine playing Risk on these maps - but with a twist. And the last for a New York mapping competition - to creatively map New York - so I chose to map the birth of Hip Hop. It ended up in a digital art gallery in SoHo. Too bad i live in SC, USA.

Anyway - I hope to build up some ratio's and stats that I can flaunt. Slowly working on it. I hope to be around for a while - looks like a tight community -

If you can, maybe you could post a tutorial explaining how you make'em, what tools you use. You might not be able to go in depth but i'm sure you can share great info about this, maybe some designers will get hooked and explore cartography design :)
