    I just came across some Amazing Animal Facts. SO Thought to share it with My Sweet TI BROs. Hope you like them.


    Penguins can jump 6 feet in the air.
    A group of Kangaroos is called a mob.
    A young Kangaroo is called a Joey.
    Emus and kangaroos cannot walk backwards
    Beavers can hold their breathe for 45 minutes under water.
    The smallest bird in the world is the Humming Bird. It weighs less than 1 oz (or 1g)
    A bear can run at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour (48 km/h).
    Elephants are the only animal that can't jump.
    Polar bears are left handed
    A crocodile cannot stick its tongue out
    A cat has 32 muscles in each ear
    Tigers have striped skin not just striped fur.
    Reindeer eat moss because it contains a chemical that stops their body from freezing
    The coyote's scientific name (Canis Latrans) means 'barking dog
    Snakes can see through their eyelids
    A Woodpecker can peck 20 times per second.
    Woodpeckers don't get headaches from all that pecking. Their skulls have air pockets to cushion the brain
    The praying mantis is the only insect that can turn its head 360 degrees
    Butterflies tast sensors are in their feet. They taste their food by standing on it.
    Katydids have ears in their front legs.
    The strongest animal in the world is the rhinoceros beetle. It can lift 850 times its own weight.
    Flamingos are pink because shrimp is one of their main sources of food.
    The flying frog uses flaps of skin between its toes to glide
    The slowest mammal on earth is the tree sloth. It only moves at a speed of 6 feet (1.83 meters) per minute
    The Chameleon's tongue is as long as its body.
    The Chameleon can focus its eyes seperately to watch two objects at once
    The Kangaroo's ancestors lived in trees. Today there are eight different kinds of tree kangaroos
    Flamingos eat with their heads upside down to strain the water out of their food
    Many snakes never stop growing. That's one reason they must shed their skin
    The Artic Tern flies from the North Pole to the South Pole and then back again to spend summer in each place.
    The black bulldog ant from Australia is the most dangerous ant in the world. It stings and bites at the same time and has killed humans.
    A hippopotamus can stay under water for up to 30 minutes
    The Basenji is the only dog which does not bark.
    Armadillos, opossums and sloths spend up to 80 percent of their lives sleeping
    The Sun Bear has the longest tongue of all bear species - 20-25 centimetres (8 to 10 inches) long.
    If the Sun Bear is grabbed or bitten around its head, it can turn round inside the wrinkly skin on its head and bite the predator.



    The blue whale is the largest creature that has ever lived on earth. It tips the scales at a whopping 170 tons - that's the same as about 22 elephants. Its heart is the size of a small car, and its largest blood vessels are wide enough for an adult to swim through without much difficulty.

    The largest land animal in the world is the Kodiak bear. It weighs about 862 kilograms, which is roughly the same as 14 male gymnasts.


    Woodpeckers slam their heads into wood at a rate of 20 pecks per second. What protects them from injury is a spongy area that sits behind their beaks and acts as a shock absorber.



    Approximately 50 percent of all orangutans have fractured bones, a result of falling off of trees on a regular basis.

    Giraffes and humans have the same number of bones in their necks: seven.

    When a lion wants to mate, he cannot be stopped. Copulation occurs every 15 minutes for one week straight. Luckily for lionesses, lions only want to mate once every two years.

    All clams are born as males. A clam can change to become a female, but only once, and the change is irreversible.

    The brain of a roach is located inside of its body. If a roach loses its head, it can live up to nine days. A decapitated roach dies not because it cannot think, but because it cannot eat.

    The koala does not need to drink liquids; it can obtain all of its liquids from eucalyptus leaves which are 50 percent water.

    African elephants produce approximately 100 kilograms of manure per day. Most of this manure is eaten up by beetles.

    A bird called the great tit produces its waste in enclosed sacs that it later removes from its nest. The average great tit removes approximately 500 sacs of manure from its nest each week.

    Frogs cannot vomit. Whenever a frog absolutely has to vomit, it vomits its entire stomach.

    The hummingbird flaps its wings 55 to 75 times per second. In order to fuel this activity, it eats approximately twice its weight in nectar every day.

    When hunting in packs, wolves use different howls to communicate with one another. Because echoes can distort communication, a wolf's howl does not produce an echo, even when emitted in a valley surrounded by mountains.

    The monarch butterfly can detect its lover's scent eight kilometers away.

    The water spider lives underwater but breathes air by using its web to create an underwater sac that stores air bubbles.

    The whitetail deer causes more harm to humans than any other animals do because of the number of traffic accidents that they are involved in.

    On average, sharks kill 10 humans every year. Approximately 100 people die each year when they are stepped on by cows.

    Sharks never run out of teeth. If one is lost, another spins forward from the rows and rows of backup teeth. A shark may grow and use 20,000 teeth in it's lifetime.

    Cockroaches blood is white and it's heart can stop without harm to the insect. I've also been told it can be used to stop aching and inflammation in wounds.

    I liked this one the most, as ist's pretty weird "On average, sharks kill 10 humans every year. Approximately 100 people die each year when they are stepped on by cows." ^^
