I made a topic before about these phones,
I recently spoke with a few of my CIS friends who all owned iphones the day they came out, upgraded to the new 3g then switch to tmobile for the G1. We're talkin about a group of 8-9 people, tech savy. Every single one of them said that the G1 is BETTER than the iphone. I am sure the open source on the G1 is a large reason but they said the G1 is better for everything, including the internet.
    Looking for further opnions......

The G1 can be unlocked by just running a Unix telnet terminal command on it, making it a very customizable phone. But Google's FW makes the phone prone to bugs & quite glitchy. It's a great phone, but the FW needs to have a few major bugs fixed. Once they have been fixed, I am pretty sure it will be more successful than the iPhone. The openess of it means much interesting software will be made for it. Hackers have already got Debian Linux running on it =)

Another crappy closed source locked Apple product, or a open development Google phone that already has Debian running in it..... It's obvious that the G1 will eat the iPhone for breakfast in a few mounths.

Ive read lots of reports saying the battery life on an iphone is non-existent? Is this true? The review suggested its necessary to recharge EVERY night! Seems pretty bad performance if that is the case. I opted for a LG Viewty way back when it first released about 18 months back.

I have the G1 and am a former iPhone owner. I personally like the G1 better. I am more about productivity then multimedia. iphone was great for music and watching videos if you like that but not for me. I wil stick to the good ole tv to watch my movies on. Plus you have to bring your iphone in and spend about $80 -100 to get a battery replacement since it is soldered to the board. iphone would just be an ongoing cost. G1 you can actually take your battery out.

I already did everything with google before the g1 came out (calendar, gmail, ect) so it worked perfectly for me, on syncs over the air. Also I like to send MMS and you cant do that with the iphone but you can with the g1.

G1 is better in my opinion. :)
