Edit: I'm looking for a foobar skin that resembles ncmpcpp, if anyone knows of one, please send me a link.
Zoom player is the best for me, but prefer using a dedicated media player box ($50) connected to a TV.
VLC on my desktop and use XBMC on my home theatre box because it's just so gorgeous to look at
I just love Media Player Classic - Home Cinema.
It's super fast, light-weight and easy to configure. I watch a lot of sports where it's important not to know how long the game still is. With MPC-HC you can just press Ctrl+# to toggle GUI elements. It's super fast and reliable when stepping through video files and supports GPU acceleration which I really need because I have a crappy PC.
OSD looks great, subtitles look stunning and it's simple the best player out there IMO.
I do have the VLC player installed but I pretty much only use it when there's a glitch in the file. Sometimes VLC handles broken files better than MPC-HC. I also keep a copy of VLC on my USB drive with my portable software and on my dropbox.
As audio player I use MediaMonkey. It's a bit on the heavy side, however, it suits my needs.
I listen to a lot of podcasts and you can configure the automatic downloading, tagging and deleting very easily. Also the archiving features are pretty marvelous where you can easily handle automatic file-renaming and moving to my music archive drive as long as the files are well-tagged.
I tried foobar like a year or two ago but it was simply too geeky to me and too much work to properly set it up in a way that I'm comfortable with it but still, it's a decent player if you have the knowledge and time to customize it to your needs.

I also loved MPC-HC, very simple, and has lot of features, if I need to watch an original BR I use PowerDVD
