Thread: 2 Years In Prison - A Man's Story

It seem's fairly legit though, even if its not. If someone doesn't have first hand experience with something, I feel like they tend to fill in the gaps with popular media, and in the case of prison, its cliches and rape.

Regardless of how first hand this experience was, I feel like its a better representation of real prison life than anything that could be found on TV or in a movie, aside from a documentary. Although, I'm completely assuming here, because I have thankfully never been to prison, but reading this made me question all that pop culture knowledge of it.

yeah, I agree with you. Even it's BS, it's still very entertaining and provides a believable prison story.

It's kinda like The Things They Carried, by Tim O'Brien, I read for school. O'Brien wrote "By telling stories, you objectify your own experience. You separate it from yourself. You pin down certain truths. You make up others. You start sometimes with an incident that truly happened, like the night in the shit field, and you carry it forward by inventing incidents that did not in fact occur but that nonetheless help to clarify and explain."

I read about 1/3 of the entire story, its too long to read in one time.

If anyone is interested in seeing a dramatization on tv than you should watch Oz. Basically its one of the best tv shows ever made. It about prison and has all the aspects of it. It is really good.

I read through this a while back but I'm still unsure if it's BS or not. Nonetheless an interesting read, almost like the tv show OZ...
