Default Is communism really that bad?

I live in America and every time anyone mentions the words communism or socialism, people freak out. They act like it's the plague. Yet everything I've read about it, it doesn't really seem like such a bad idea. Don't get me wrong. I know how there have been past leaders that have abused their power and claimed to be communists. But to all work for one goal seems like a good idea to me. Bring the nation into one big community...America that is...

I even feel like this is a type of communist structure. Those who have the means help out the people that don't have privileges. I may be wrong though

Anyways.... What do you guys think?

Look don't mind what people say because it'll never change you on the inside. You will allways have freedom of speech to your mind and will be able to speak to yourself freely anywhere on the world. They'll try to change you but it won't do a thing.

More than a half of the people in the USA don't even know what comunism is or what it means in terms of politics. You live in a capitalist society so all they want is for you to have the idea that capitalism is good and comunism is bad, just like the nazi or anyone else who is against their politics. I say you really shouldn't give a shit about what they say, after all you can only say bad or good things about something if you know what you're talking about.

Comunism is the perfect theory and, I repeat, THEORY, however, it will never be possible to apply, because people are dishonest and greedy by nature.

The only thing you can do is... well... anything. If you want to be a capitalist, be a capitalist, if you want to be a comunist, be a comunist, if you want to be a nazi what the fuck, be a nazi.
The only thing that matters is that you know what you are standing up for and really believe in it, don't get carried away by what the majority of the people says, if you do, you're all full of shit.

Stand up for what you believe until your finest hour.

    cheers

It sounds nice on paper right. But in practice I think it's plain stupid. Most leaders would or have abused the power that they have in a communist nation. It also takes away your individuality in some ways. In it's pure state communism is 100% egalitarian. Which means everyone is the same class, and everyone is equal. But this is not true, as you can see in our own society.

Communism means that pretty much everything is state controlled. This is really bad for the economy, as it pressures down competition and innovation. Furthermore you lose your freedom as a person, when the leaders ban certain cultural beliefs or acts.

I also believe that human nature and/or behavior is one of the society's key elements that make communism an ideology that isn't applicable in today's day and age, so that those living under the regime are not oppressed. Socialism has a strong connection with communism and is what was displayed in Nazi Germany. National Socialism = Nazism (in German).
As for communism being that bad, I'd encourage you to research, study history, dig deeper and even read The Communism Manifesto to gain first-hand knowledge of what Marx and Engels had in mind, in terms of the concept of communism; then decide for yourself.
I, personally see communism and in turn socialism as a flawed ideology but I don't really feel like typing up an essay to answer why.

    In theory, communism is great.

    It's kind of like democracy.

In the it doesn't look that bad indeed. But in the real world it is impossible to implement. Lack of competition isn't really the main problem (but it was the cause of the end of the pseudo-communist regimes that existed)... im my point of view the main problem is with incentives. In a place with millions of people, your contribution to the total welfare would be minimum, and since you would gain the same as everyone, why would you bother doing your best? Why would anyone care if you are doing your best or not? So, for it to "work" they would have to do some nice things like mass murders, slavery and etc. Instead of material reward for effort, you would have to work just to be alive, doing whatever "they" want.

We should try to fight inequality and poverty, but keeping in mind what is possible and what isn't. Communism isn't.

As others have already said, communism is good on paper but it doesn't work when applied.

Well in one aspect, if you mess around, wouldn't everyone come after you? Like you're not doing your part, ok we'll kill you. Just like in the bittorrent community. If you join a site, and don't seed back, to at least 1, they'll ban you from the site. And the people of private trackers don't charge every person for admission. They instead ask for donations for certain benefits.

Would you call the bittorrent community communism?
