Thread: Temp Seedboxes for Hard Ratio Sites

Temporary Seedboxes are an absolutely fantastic part of the Area-51 Section, and I'm crazy thankful that there are people with more money than me that are that generous. That being said, I wanted to ask everyone's opinion on something relevant.

I've perused the giveaway section myself and seen a lot of people saying that a seedbox would help improve their odds of getting into hard to ratio sites like what.cd. I've been a member of What for a couple of years now, and have given my few invites away to some friends, but have little experience outside of that. Do you think that it's an unfair representation when someone is applying to a tracker, any tracker for that matter, and posts a SS of a seedbox that could only last between 2 and 4 weeks? Is it customary that people demonstrate that the pay for a consist seedbox when applying to more exclusive trackers like What?

Again, not trying to point fingers or name names (I'm not even trying to imply that this is wrong), nor is my intention to be hostile or aggressive; I just feel like something in that nature is a little shady. I understand applying for a seedbox to help a ratio for a hard to torrent tracker that one is already a part of, but doing it to get in to a tracker just seems...meh.

A Seedbox helps a person .. to boost his ratios on another sites and to get some buffer on those other torrent sites he have like for me it would be TL which i would boost .. tell me seriously who will you invite a guy who has 500GB Upload on TL or a guy who has 5GB of upload .. that's the case.. in my opinion .. that's why they ask for a seedbox. Its not that they need a seedbox to prove to the interviewer they got good speeds or something .. i have never given the interview so i don't really know much about what they require but i def. think they require profile links/ratio proofs to other trackers which shows .. the quality of the member :)

Well sure, but I had thought that people who asked for seedbox proof generally wanted to make sure that the invitee had secured a seedbox to use for a long period of time on the tracker they're trying to get into. And I'm not talking about things like TorrentLeech, I'm meaning what.cd, waffles, black-cat games, etc.

TBH I don't think just cause someone don't have a box disqualify him from not getting into any site..for example I seriously wonder sometime why people who giveout invite to FTn ask for seedbox prrof cause IN my opinion tracker like that are gonna help people with low speed or those who cannot afford seedbox more then to the people who can and survive on SCC..I personally have given my invite to a invite who is a real good forum user but have not used seedbox in long..he got like 1Gb upload there but I am perfectly happy that he is getting what all he want and not just having the tracker for buffer whoring or showoff..


now why I wrote this is cause If we have permanent SB as criteria for all our invite we are neglecting many of awesome users..and if it was the criteria I would have not got my 1st torrent tracker yet :P :P...

now the scenario is little diff for tracker like what(tough to seed)...SO the one who apply for any giveaway and give those Sb which they have got from giveaway as proof(also mention it in there post) are just trying to show the user that they can get initial buffer which will help them survive the tracker and the invitee don't need to worry about there ratio...I am sure if you are inviting someone you don't want to see him having a ratio of 500 but you prefer him to grab/download 100Gb with ratio of 1 to 3...


so overall IF the user mention all details about his box(from which giveaway he got it) I don't think it's even slightly wrong...ya misleading someone to get a invite is always wrong...


PS. for example I have about 100Gb down on waffle and some 250Gb up in there now..even if I don't use a box on that tracker I won't have ratio problem for long now..and even if I do I can always upload some stuff to keep up the pace...same goes for most of the other tracker..

Thanks for the reply, but it seems like I'm misrepresenting myself and my questions. I totally recognize the ridiculousness behind requiring a seedbox for any tracker, and am glad that this site doesn't do that. However, what I meant in my original post is that a lot of people who apply for temporary seedbox giveaways say that they want one in order to show a proof of a seedbox in a tracker application, which just seems like it's sketchy. You acknowledge this in your reply, and have answered my questions. I guess I didn't consider that someone would be showing seedbox proof and explaining that it's only temporary, and that they would use it for a quick boost in the beginning. Thanks for clearing things up! :))

For me, I would also think that Temporary Seedbox majority is just to help boosting the ratio. If a seed is needed for longer time then a permanent Seedbox is needed.

Requesting a Seedbox proof is something different. For example, if you are a member in HDBits and you don't have a Seedbox. You are going to be out after warnings because seeding is very hard without high speed. So the user who going to invite will need Seedbox proof so he don't waste the invite that going to giveaway.
