Thread: Will Apophis The Asteroid Hit The Earth ?

Just thought I would cheer everyone up

Will the giant Asteroid known as Apophis (The Serpent Of Chaos) hit the earth in 2036

They will know in 2029 exactly where it will go after it passes through Earths gravitational field. The fact that it will pass between where our satellites orbit and the Earth is pretty impressive. Though they are still working on its true trajectory. Currently they are only certain of a 600 mile area. Then once it passes (If it doesnt hit the Earth then) they will know its exact trajectory, when/where/if it will hit the earth. Current estimates predict a area between 150 miles inside southern California and 600 miles out in the Pacific.

The asteroid is not large enough to destroy the earth or large enough to kill all life on the planet. They estimate that its about the size of a stadium. If it hits land it will create a 3 mile wide crater, if it hits water,.. it will more than likely explode 3 miles under water creating three to four 50 - 100ft tall tsunami's wiping out everything 1/2 - 1 mile inland of all land on the Pacific coasts.

I'm of the opinion that if it doesnt hit the Earth in 2029 that during the 13 yr period when its expected to return in 2036,.. they will have figured out a way to divert it away from the Earth. We have enough technology to do this.

I think that our earth is under some great unknown for us protection and it not gonna leave that big thing hit us, LOL

But yeah, like was already stated, I'll be to old to care. I'll deal with that when I get back for the next life.

This thread had me freaking out. I then went and looked on Wikipedia and I felt better again after the intro paragraph.

I've gone through phaes when I read this stuff and revert back to wiki. The chances are very slim to nill. After it was ruled that the initial possibility was completely wrong. Its been virtually downgraded to no impact possible.

I suppose non of you heard of the astroid that passed us a month or so ago that we only had found out a couple days before it was due.

No sense talking about it, it happens it happens. I'll be downloading torrents in that last minute :D
