Thread: IP Ban...Torrentleech????

Hey Guys,

Just looking for some feedback as to if its possible to ever have an IP ban removed for torrentleech. I made a mistake a couple of years ago after I signed up and downloaded a really large file which I stupidly thought I would be able to seed back in time and couldn't ....After a couple of donations and some hard seeding I still failed and had my Ip banned ...I am just wondering if there is something I can do as I really don't abuse private trackers its just I made the silly mistake with that one....and its a tracker I really want to try get back with....



Any suggestions would be helpful ....

Not sure. TL is cracking down on leechers who dont pay up one way or the other. Not sure how you could possibly not maintain a good ratio on TL. I routinely download the latest popular download,.. Movie, ISO or what ever just to seed it back so when I want something that I know wont get a good seed back I am covered. Just leave your Seed running for a few weeks (Or months like I do). Guaranteed it will get up to a 4.0 - 5.0 ratio within that time frame even when your seeding is slow. You have to leave your seeds running,.. if your ratio has reached a point of no return,.. you have only two options. Donate your way back in and you will need to continue donating,.. or start fresh with a new account and work to maintain a good ratio. TL is one of the easiest sites to keep a good ratio.

I just joined last week. I currently behind the 8-ball as well.

I downloaded a 711 mb file and so far only leeched 51 mb. When I get time, I may try to find a newer file to download.

I'm guessing if you have a ban, it should be permanent ... unless you convince some mod over at IRC that you're not a leecher... you just didn't know better a few years back :)

Seeding in TL is actually not hard, just get big torrents from other sites and seed them on TL, it's easy and the best way to get your ratio flowing.

No offense,.. but then I suppose none of you really want be on TL then. Perhaps the other free or open trackers would be better suited to your torrent requirements.

The wait time is there to encourage you to work hard to get to power user status and not to waste your time there. You have to work at it and show some fortitude. If you just want to leech,.. then just donate and become a VIP.

As a new user you need to work on getting out of the newbie land. That means down load only popular torrents that people are still downloading. You can also seed existing torrents that you already have to gain your ratio that way also. Use it to get your ratio up. Once you pass the time frame and bandwidth requirements you will find its the easiest site to keep and maintain a good ratio. If you are not willing to earn your respect then you will never get it. The user base of TL is very large. But if your expecting to only leave a seed open for few hours max to earn your ratio that way then perhaps TL is not for you?

I've been on TL for almost 5 years now. It is one of if not the best general tracker I know of. It is my favorite and main tracker as well.

Question, so how exactly does this work?

I download a file from say IPTorrents and then reupload it to TL?

How would IPTorrents feel about that?

TL is not easy to keep a good ratio. It's not difficult, but it ain't easy either especially starting out. OP already stated he dug himself into a hole with a LARGE file. You're supposed to maintain a global ratio of 0.4 and if you don't you get 5 days to get there. On top of that a per torrent minimum which is also 0.4 that if you don't meet you have to leave seeded for 60 hours or get a Hit & Run warning. He already said he made a mistake, so although seeding for weeks or months is good advice it only helps people not in this same situation. I only survived TL because of my cross seeding efforts early on. With that I met the prerequisites for Power User before I even made my 4 week mark.
