Living here I never really imagined the US as a tourist destination,.. much less at the #2 spot.

I live in Fla and we frequent many of the theme parks. We get discounts for being residents. But I do notice that at certain times of the year the parks are full of visitors from other countries. The water parks are of particular interest because many EU visitor's bathing suites are pretty risque compared to what we wear here in the US. I mean 60 yr old men in speedo's (Picure an old Italian guy with a hairy pot belly and hairy nads because the piece cant contain it all) or 50 year old women in T-backs with sagging butt cheeks and just enough up front to barely cover their vagina. Now the younger women are ok to look at,.. but it seems the older folks have no time clock or sense of decency when it comes to choosing what to wear. I'm not hating,.. just the older folks here dont wear those kinds of things and for my wife and I its kind of shocking to see. LOL

I imaging there are many stories of strange Americans in EU as well. My wife and I are planning a 3 month tour of Italy. We want to rent motor cycles and just ride around with no tour guide. Where ever we end up is where we explore. We did London and Manchester than way. Also Paris and the French country side was beautiful to see. Someone stole my helmet in Paris,.. ripped the lock off my bike. I guess they needed it more than me.

We'd like to see Egypt as well,.. but are fearful to explore on our own because we heard stories that Americans are not very welcome there. But then we heard the same about how many Italians dont like Americans either. My wife is Greek so hopefully we can make it through ok.

I always though that Greece is among the top 10 tourist destinations.

Well , it seems that size counts and greece is small ...

It is surprising to me that some places mentioned (like Greece, Egypt) are not on the list, and that Italy isn't higher. I would have thought they were all more popular destinations than Spain, if not France - but then I've only been to Spain and France, and live in the US so maybe it really is accurate. :)

For those in the US, it's often taken for granted how many troves of treasure there are in terms of tourism within the states. Each area of the country has unique traditions, landscape, and landmarks. If you do venture into each of the 50, I'm sure that you'll find just how distinctive each is from the other. :)

Dubai takes some beating - Burj Al Arab and The Jumeria Beach Hotel are stunning used to be big with the Americans and is themed towards this - but of late lees american tourists go there more Australian and South African Tourists - and is awash with celebs just strolling about unhindered
