Default Do you pay attention to open trackers?

This is something that I have been curious about for some time now. As most if not all know by now we have a wonderful section on T-I for "Open Trackers"

Open Trackers - Torrent Invites! Get your free private torrent tracker invites !

I personally have enough trackers, to which each one for the most part serves a specific need. However I find myself looking through this section quite often and then ultimately joining some.

I believe one reason is the fact that by doing so I can then try out the tracker without fear of anything happening to me here if I decide to prune the account (by this I mean that I won't waste a user's invite to the site).

Another reason is that even though I enjoy the majority of trackers that I am currently on I find that in some cases a different tracker (be it niche or general) may actually serve my needs better.

Unfortunately in my case I have only found one so far (out of 8 trackers) that has been worth keeping although I have not been there for long.

I am curious to know if others on here are like me in joining trackers during the open periods, or do you not even bother with them to begin with?

I'm also interested in knowing do you tend to prune them or keep them for the long haul, as well as have you found a real diamond in the rough by simply stumbling upon a period of time in which they are open?

well i keep checking it every once in a while.. thanks to that thread i got into BCG! Also, some trackers which are hyped like SeX and a few others, it gives u the opportunity to check them out.. I personally am interested in trackers and the codebase they use so thats another reason

As for ur other question, if a site is worth it, as in the forums are active and the content is good, i might keep the account.. otherwise let it get pruned.. and like u said, u cant risk doing that here on T-I.

I always check Open trackers for updates, its a good way to get into some niche sites, and i have joined some bcoz they were open and would not result in any repurcussions if i decide to not use 'em in the future, than in the case if someone had invited me, only to find that it is not what i'm lookin for.

Case in point: BitHQ - got in thru open sign-up, but decided it is not for me, so will allow my acc to be pruned for inactivity

But i got into cinemageddon thru open signup and i absolutely love it in there :)
also got in VipMusic, SoftMp3.. will look around these and then decide if i need them..

Thanks to Trevor for repping me in

I dont have any GAs open. If you want invites to any of the trackers listed below, see me in T-I irc

Yea I think the open trackers link at the top is very useful, especially when your just starting to get into Private trackers. It gives you a chance to look at everything and start to see all the really good trackers, IE: the ones that never have open sign ups and such. And if you didnt like one you joined you can go inactive on it and not put anyone else in jeopardy if someone else invited you there.

i check the opentrackers every two or three days. But the very good trackers are only with invites.

I agree with this for the most part, however even some of the better ones out there have been known to open up from time to time. Granted I doubt we will ever see a FTN or iTs open invite but then again you never know.

Personally BitHQ has been good thus far and I recently joined CGD. However a few have not been good enough to replace a current tracker I have or been considered good enough to keep for the long haul in my opinion.

    Interesting post mate cheers.

Well I'm going to be the first one to say that I generally don't check the open trackers list. I definitely agree that is good for those users just starting out in the private tracker world, especially those who do not have any trackers to base a proof on. It gives them a place to start out and build a ratio.

I guess I can understand you can miss out on getting into niche sites. At the end of it all though, I just don't generally download that much niche stuff.

I don't see the point in focusing on specific trackers unless they're private. I use bitsnoop for my public needs. But its just a search engine known for having a lot of trackers.

Kickasstorrents.com for a newbie to torrenting like me. I've found it awesome so far but have little experience of private trackers!
