Dear Friends,
At the onset, I would let to thank Diggity
-Thank you soo much for coming up with this novel idea! When I stumbled upon this thread, I couldn't wait to see what what would turn up when it tested a couple of my rhymes...
Well, so far I've tested two and I'm flattered by the results that I've received. Let me tell you why..
The first rhyme I pasted was a Welcome rhyme I came up with for welcoming the new members into the T-I family. And when I put it for analysis on the website, it came up that I supposedly write like Raymond Chandler!
At first I did not know who he was but his name sounded sweet-for it had the sound of the names of two very interesting characters I've enjoyed watching over the years-The first is Raymond(From Everybody loves Raymond-a American television sitcom of the aired between 1996 & 2005, based on the real life experiences of the lead actor Ray Ramano) and the second one is Chandler Bing(portrayed by Matthew Perry in the American sitcom-" Friends", aired during 1994-2004).
Well, I was curious to know who he was and so I did what anyone in my situation would have done-I googled and found out the following:
Raymond Thornton Chandler (July 23, 1888 – March 26, 1959) was an Anglo-American novelist and screenwriter who had an immense stylistic influence upon the modern private detective story, especially in the style of the writing and the attitudes now characteristic of the genre. His protagonist, Philip Marlowe, along with Dashiell Hammett's Sam Spade, is considered synonymous with "private detective", both being played on screen by Humphrey Bogart.
You can get more information about his life & works here. Can you imagine-my titters & tatters being compared with the "detective" genre's played by the likes of Humphrey Bogart? Wow! What a rush of positive and inspiring emotions! But I also couldn't help but think if my rhymes would actually be so mysterious at times that readers may in fact need someone like Bogart to solve its "mystery"! Hmmm.. I wonder if I should consider this as a compliment or ....
Well, the jolly-good positive Mac in me told me that it was surely a compliment and so I left it at that!:001_smile:
So, after almost hitting a home run on the first pitch, I thought to myself, "Well...why not have a go at it, again?"! And so, to satisfy my curiosity I pasted another of my rhymes-This time from Jenna's thread-"Any writers on TI?". Now the funny part is that the first paragraph of my rhyme was...
I'm not a writer,
But I would like to get there,
Just noting my thoughts,
At times, thinking-"Should I dare?"
By the words you can judge that it's all about how I'm NOT a writer and how I would like to GET THERE! And the analysis that came next was the icing on the cake!
For as I waiting for the site to spurt out another random name which would hopefully "sound good" and also appeal positively to the "writer" in me, I could never have guessed in a million years that the answer that the site responded with was... guess who?? William Shakespeare!
Well, I can say that I was so ecstatic on reading this, that I immediately saved a copy of the "Badge" on my Desktop
, just to reminding me on days when I find myself searching for words which don't seem to flow as gracefully as on other days, that once upon a time, a software did compare the little bits and pieces I could manage to mish-mash, to the writings of William Shakespear!
Here's the memorabilia that I've saved for myself-My lucky charm for the remainder of my life!
And when my emotions, which were earlier dancing to the tunes of my happiness, did finally seem to calm down out of sheer exhaustion, the fact of what this implied actually dawned on me!
For having studied Shakespeare in school and having enjoyed his writing ever since, implied one & only one thing-That the readers of my rhymes would perhaps also need to sit with a "Guide" while they try to explore the depths of my words and weigh each ounce of emotions that accompanied my every letter.
And I could now see it clearly-I could see the eyes of my readers squint with wonder and curiosity as they sit before their screens reading what I've written and they speak as their jaw drops in wonder, thinking-"Nice one, dude! But I didn't get a thing of what you're trying to say"!
Thank you once again for this wonderful opportunity! I had tons of laughter coupled with bouts of inspiration and wild peaks of enthusiasm...
...and I hope you did too!
Lots of Love,
Mackenna
