I've read through a chunk of this article, I like some of the proposed features (simplicity, facial recognition and login to your User Account are very nice) but over all, I honestly don't think that Gates and Microsoft as a company care that much about their customers to make things this easy. Microsoft is such a hassle, I just went through 2 days without a computer because I was unable to make a proper bootable flash drive because of x86/x64. LOL Long story, but Microsoft is all about the dollar. If all this comes about like the "leak" says it will, then I fear we are on the verge of having 2 Apples. 2 companies that both have the "It just works" mentality on the brand (or so this article said) just won't work. Apple pushes something, and whether it works properly or not, they still make insane sums of money because people will just buy the next new thing they put out. So, the quality can suffer without the loss of revenue for someone like them. Just my 4 cents. I'm gonna get back to the Intro Section, where I belong. LOL

From the Article: The following slide details other considerations for Windows 8 where identity is concerned. Namely, user accounts will still be the primary method of accessing Windows for individuals, fast user switching is a continued focus, and most notably, Windows accounts could be connected to the cloud which would allow for roaming settings/preferences between PCs and devices and PCs to log on to websites on the user’s behalf — all marking an evolution of Windows identity from being machine-centric to user-centric.

Now that is an innovation that MS has been trying to pull off for years... if they could finally get Roaming Identities to work correctly (and even better to host the identities on their server on their cloud), this could definitely be a big win for them. Just imagine logging on to ANY pc with the correct version of Windows and being able to have all of yours settings, links, programs.. etc. I can't wait to see how this turns out.

The ONLY reason I upgraded to windows 7 was because of the lack of DX10+ on windows XP. I skipped Vista because of all the problems it had. I don't think I'm going to be upgrading for a while I don't care if windows 10 comes out. As long as I can play my games on here, I don't need all this extra crap. I still use XP for the majority of my programs and DX9 Games. Innovation? I would call this more of "how can we bullshit them to make them think we're working hard to make something new they can blow money on..." No thanks. I'll stick to my torn apart version of windows 7.

Thanks to Freedom for repping me in.

Totally agree with you here. MS is looking at how the Apple industry and Linux (and soon Google OS!) are growing and will keep growing. Apple making the design and easy to use system, but still selling it rather expensive. But apple still sells alot of products.
Now Gates wants to join the trend!

MS just spits out OS's because they will get more money that way. But the truth is, that people is still using the XP version over Vista and W7.
That would not change with W8!

i actually don't really think it's going to happen,to do such thing for each user they gonna need a town of servers, for each user's information and files.

There are a ton of cloud companies already doing this so it's not out of reach.
The art of simplicity is a puzzle of complexity.

It's going to end up being Microsoft's version of Apple's Mobile Me, they will charge around 100 bucks per year for it.

But the problem is unless it's leaps and bounds better then Apple's, no one is going to buy it because people are not blinded Microsoft as people are blinded by Apple.

Apple has made some good products lately though, but you still have the apple fanboy that will stand in line for days for the new iphone, ipad, etc... I don't see Microsoft ever releasing a product like that unless it's console gaming related.

Until MS starts simplifying and making working technology, I will stay with Apple
