Default (Homework) Make 3D model of optic fibre, need help!!!

Hi guys, well i have this assignment where they want me to create a 3D model of fibre optics. Now i need some suggestions because maybe someone has something unique that i haven't thought of. I need this with the next 3 days so please post if you have an idea.

Basically all i can come up with is a tube or box with mirrors placed at various locations and a laser reflected off them along the way. Which isn't all that fancy or original, so i decided to ask here.

"When we look at modern man, we have to face the fact that modern man suffers from a kind of poverty of the spirit, which stands in glaring contrast to a scientific and technological abundance. We've learned to fly the air like birds, we've learned to swim the seas like fish, and yet we haven't learned to walk the Earth as brothers and sisters." - Martin Luther King

In the name of the best within me, I radiate a light by which others may see their own way in dark streets of life while I pursue my quest for excellence with an urge to serve others at whatever cost as I rise to the occasion, staying true to my ideals, beliefs and commitments and as the heroes of all time have guided me by example, so shall I guide you with my strength and dedication to persevere and endure all responsibilities on this trail of bliss and perfection-the path of The Exalted.

They just want us to show how light is reflected and refracted along the optic fiber.

hmm what 3D software are you using? I mean I would suggest maya and then use this free tutorial here on creating a glass jug and use similar principles from that:

    I hope that helps.

Oh no no guys =) i have to build a 3D model by hand, eg with the use of mirrors, etc not software. It has to be tangible.

I donno, this is what i think im ganna do.

Get some sort of box and place mirrors along two sides parallel to each other and then i will get a laser and shine it, and hopefully have it reflect along the mirror til the end.

Hehe thats the best i can think of and boy is it so unoriginal.

You can probably buy a sheet of the mirror backing film, or whatever they use, use adhsive to attach it to some sort of flat, flexible material, and then make a circle out of it.
