Default 2012 What do you think is going to happen?

You might call me Insane to the Membrane, but I just want to know what you guy's think? I mean I read these two article's and I cant deny or acknowledge, but I did do alot of research. It took me awhile to fine these article's after I first saw them, and got to them again. I had a long debate at some guy's at the irc digital hive! Was interesting enough.

We all know the bible right? Okay, how about knowing the genesis is not the first book of mankind? Interesting. Okay. How about knowing that Adam and Eve wasn't the first people on earth? Read On! Okay, Knowing these two facts makes you one to question your relegion? How about this? Have you heard of the Anunnaki? I know you might think Im insane again, but stating facts is hard to resist. I looked up all kinds of stuff, and their are lots of references? I looked up calenders, and aliens and all kinds of stuff. Anyway what got me researchng was the movie The Fourth Kind. The end part was when the translated the sumerian language with hypnotic possessed stuff. "The alien said I am god" I obviously did'nt feel comfortable after that!

Here are some links to articles? Give thanks if you appreciate this post!

Nothing is going to happen. The whole thing that started it all, the "end of time" on the mayan calender, is nothing more than the end of a ~25,000 year cycle.

2012 is the approximate date of a new cycle in new age astrology, various mystical traditions, etc. That's it.

There have been end of the world predictions from the beginning of history.

to be honest, i don't believe this is going to happen. I do not believe that valcanos will come out of the ground at random places and there will be tons of earthquakes. I don't understand how the calander can run out anyway. would it just start over or something?

Well, lots of things are going to happen, but if you mean nothing out of the ordinary then that's not certain either. There will probably be lots of riots and looting leading up to and on the last day of the Mayan calendar. Martial Law will be in effect in many different countries across the globe to protect civil people from the ones that go wild.

Oh, and the next day will probably become "International I Told You So Day." And we'll all have a good laugh at people who thought they would die, made some bad decisions because of it, but are still here and have to live with those decisions.

I think the "end of time" statement is a bit exaggerated. Most likely taken out of context. The Maya calendar went through various revisions. Initially they used Calendar Rounds, two systems were used to represent the number of days. One system resulted in the representation of a "year" as 260 days, the other used 365 days.

Since the Calendar Round could only distinguish in 18,980 days, equivalent to around 52 solar years, the cycle repeats roughly once each lifetime, and thus, a more refined method of dating was needed if history was to be recorded accurately.

The long count calendar was devised by Mesoamerican and believed to be inherited by the Mayan is where this misinterpretation and this nonsense comes from. Based on the calculations of the long count calendar, one period representing 144,000 days or approximately 394 solar years will end on December 12 2012. This will end a full cycle on the Mayan long count calendar, I think it would be the 14th. Thus begins a new cycle. The end of the 13th period supposedly represented a monumental occasion for the Maya people. They used the number 13 a lot and it had great significance to them. From what is known, they often combined their religious beliefs with certain dates (not too unfamiliar).

So, this all stems from a few old archeological findings that were roughly translated to nonsensical English statements including the 13 B'ak'tun (period) and possibly one of the gods that they worshiped. As with many things this was likely taken out of context and just so happens to be a good topic for "New Age" followers to willingly latch onto. The movie was/is supported, likely funded and produced by "New Age" disconnects. It certainly makes for an entertaining theological or philosophical eschatology.

An enormous amount of detail and interesting information can be found here:
FAMSI - 2012: The end of the World?

FAMSI.org is a fantastic resource of Mesoamerican study. I left out an incredible amount of detail that really gives indication of how advanced these people were.

I am a Christian. I believe in the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. I do not believe that this day is going to be unlike any other day. I am a fanatic on the end times stuff personally ( like Nostradamus and such) however I do not believe in these predictions.

As far as stating the facts I disagree.

    fact

     /fækt/ Show Spelled[fakt] Show IPA
–noun1.something that actually exists; reality; truth: Your fears have no basis in fact.

2.something known to exist or to have happened: Space travel is now a fact.

3.a truth known by actual experience or observation; something known to be true: Scientists gather facts about plant growth.

4.something said to be true or supposed to have happened: The facts given by the witness are highly questionable.

Now I can understand that to someone who truly believes in this event would consider this to be fact, however there is no way these "facts" can indeed be facts as there is no way to prove that this event exist and will happen.

Thanks for the articles by the way I will read them in their entirety later tonight.

The Galactic Alignment. Thats it. Its not the doomsday, its just a really cool astronomical event. But the depth of the Mayan's knowledge of space is still astounding. The fact that they could predict this so far in advance is insane. I still watch all those 2012 things not because I believe it, but because a pre-classic civilization having such knowledge of the stars is simply amazing. A lot of what they knew, we didnt actually figure out until the 1900s.

Lol. I only stated 2 facts. I didn't state that the whole article was facts. I stated that adam and eve were not the first people on this planet? and that Genesis is not the beginning of time? I find these supposedly fact based on archival's of scripts before genesis. Im not saying the bible itself is false, which, currently is true, it coincides with a bigger story? It did'nt start at Genesis?

Bible is stating armageddon. The bible is saying the antichrist war? Could this be the antichrist was, fighting against our own supposedly creators to be as slaves, which would be naturally to go against their will, because we dont want to be their slaves anymore. They will try to destroy us, ala atlantis, and life will start from scratch again. I do believe the older generation were as smart, if they could analize space, like we do know with millions of dollars of equipment and still get to the same relevance!

Plz, this is not a debate? I just wanna know how would I proof this article wrong, i guess? I mean I dont want to believe it, but I mean it's hard to ignore?>

Ok I am not here to debate as well. Those are not facts more like hypothesis. I am merely stating how can you say Adam and Eve were not the first people on earth and that Genesis is not the beginning of time?

I can not prove that Adam and Eve were the first people on earth nor can I prove that Genesis is the beginning of time. I believe they are so in a way maybe to my beliefs that is a "religious fact" however not truly an actual fact if going by the definition of the word fact. How can you be sure your other sources are factual? You can't just because a bunch of scientists say they found a book or a scroll that date backs to such and such time stating the bible is wrong in stating Genesis is not the beginning of time can not be fact because it can not be proven.

Anyways come December 21st 2012 I'll be outside with my telescope watching a truly phenomenal celestial event asking myself I wonder what all the end time scientists and wannabe prophets are going to come up with to make use believe the world will end on another date? I can hardly wait!
