Thread: What would you do? Ratio Cheating...

So my first private tracker I ever used was an account given to me from a friend. My friends from norway and I'm pretty sure there's about 4 people using the account. He used ratio cheating software to build up a massive buffer (about 4TB UL) and I was aware of this when I used the account.

I used the tracker a lot earlier on about a year ago. Then I signed up for bitsoup. A little later Irc interviewed into Torrent-Damage... Got my intro accepted into TI and the rest is history :) I rarely use the tracker my friend gave me an account on if at all anymore.

Since being a member here at TI the P2p spirit caught up to me and I kinda feel bad that that account cheats and possibly still is cheating (or at least will after it's near 1TB buffer is used up). However the friend that uses it is a good friend of mine and I don't think I could ever rat him out and get the account banned.

So if you were in my shoes what actions would you take. Message the mods and inform them of the account owners malpractices? Have a heart to heart conversation with your friend about integrity and p2p values? Do nothing? Let me know.

The first thing I would do would be to tell him that he is most likley going to be banned, Don't try and convince him with stuff like the integrity of bittorent and so forth because that's not going to work. If after many warnings from you he still doesn't stop ratio cheating simply make an anonymous report to Staff, If you ask nicley they wont give your username away and will probably never know it was you.

He will realize he was warned by you that this would happen, And most lilkley learn a lesson and not ratio cheat again, and if he continues to ratio cheat on another tracker repeat the process, eventually he will learn.

I have a friend that once cheated. It was about 3 years ago and we were early in the torrent world.Then one day the dude tells me that he has this cool program that can boost up your upload to how much you want it, so he boosted it up to 300GB upload.I told him that he would get caught. The next day Boom , hes account was deleted.He never used it again xD.So no cheating = smooth ride. And i don't get the point of cheating, when everything is for free.

Tell him to admins and get him banned.
No mercy for cheaters!

Ban immediately, if he cheats in the first place telling him not to will not help, he will always cheat when he have to, plus more ppl cheating meaning innocent ppl gets heart by their stupid actions.

Well one of my invite once asked me "what cheating Program you are using" I guess he was new and was wondering how come I have this awesome ratio on the tracker(seedbox noob I guess)...well I had a long convo with him asked him all about his torrent habits have he used any in much friendly way but after walking over 3 hours on IRC...realised he was new and was kind of distubed after seeing all 500-600GB's of buffer all around him....

Well I gave him a big lecture on p2p how it work,why noy to cheat or trade.....I am sure he cannot think of these thing ever again..lol

But the main intention of my chat was to conform weather he is cheating or not....
Cheating== ban this is the only way to teach them...

I sincerely would tell him that he could get his account disabled or even banned. But I wouldn't tell any mod or admin :) he should learn on his own

Sooner or later his going to get caught. I would have a conversation with him and the consequences he will face if he gets caught. But for sure wouldn't rat on my good friend.
