Default Freeleech, do you abuse it?

I was just wondering is anyone against downloading huge amounts of freeleech then slowly seeding it back?
Post your thoughts on the matter
I think that if you are new to a tracker it's fine to download a lot of freeleech and get a ratio buffer, that's why it's there and it has a good impact on the community as it helps people will low ratios out.
But Who thinks that there is like an un written rule or guideline to where downloading too much freeleech is no good?
I personally think that if you do download tonnes of freeleech that you should aim to give a minimum of 80% of it back before deleting it(for slow connections).
But it is a great way when joining new sites. I know when I first joined my first site, a close friend gave me an invite, and said i had to keep my ratio up because someone had burnt him, so I downloaded about 100GB of freeleech (now seeded that much back) and then got to a ratio buffer of 30GB and then downloaded 2 things I liked and went from there.

umm... i just download everything that i wanted and if they ask for seed ill seed but i doubt ill seed it all back lmfao!! anyways, they open freeleech for you to start downloding, so download away, don't think about things too much. Of course they ask you to seed it back! But FL is supposed to incite downloaders... however, it is good that you seed it all back bro i mean, that's like what i should do but don't :(

Well I thought it was about whoring the ratio...I normally download and seed the hell out of it...as many download it and won't seed so I download it and get my ratio up...he he....

freeleech are always nice...except of site like IpT where I have a lot of buffer and I just grab torrent to home directly....

yer IPT has some very good torrents that I always wanted for freeleech. WIN WIN :)
I try to upload as much freeleech as I can on sites that are hard to seed on.
I was reading the economics of a tracker, and i guess freeleech is what keeps them going :)
so is it agreed that getting lot's of freeleech is good and not founded on, even though you may download 300Gb and take 6 months to seed it all back to 1:1?

I really don't give a shit. Either I download something because I want it, in which case I don't really care if it seeds well or not. I'll leave it seeding for a while, but if it's already overseeded or there are not enough leechers, I don't have any qualms dropping that torrent at 10% seeded to be replaced by something else.

The other case is where I want to build ratio. Here I don't really care what I download, I just look for something popular, new and with lotsa leechers. Then I check if I can crossseed it and if I'm really lucky it's freeleech.

What I don't do is just freeleech for the hell of it. Either I want to seed it, or I actually want the torrent, in which case seeding isn't as important.

When freeleech comes on at Waffles for me it's all about getting my ratio up. Everybody downloads like crazy during freeleech so it's really easy to get your ratio up. I download like a madman but I also seed everything. I try to get my connection maxed out. Especially on upload. That way when I want to download something later on - I'll have the ratio to do it.

Hell to the no. I'd download 1TB and seed it for the minimum 48hrs then delete it if I felt like it. Lets not forget that downloading data is still good for the tracker, someone is sending you that data which buffers their account, which in turn allows them to download more and the cycle continues. It's like a simplistic economy.

I pretty much just download if I want it and leave it there until I'm reminded about it or need to organize my drive or seedbox, if I need to build a buffer I get whatever is popular and leave it there until I can dl anything without too much worry, this worked great on myspleen my buffer is so ridiculous that I can pretty much just consider that whole site freeleech at this point. On the other hand I am a good sharer since I paid attention in kindergarten and I like to leave torrents open for at least a week or two to give people a chance, and if I bounce after that time and I see a reseed request I make every effort to reseed.

My favorite tracker has freeleech about once a year, and when they do I take advantage of it like crazy. Of course I seed it back. To me that's the whole point of the freeleech: to build a good buffer. I got a huge buffer on this last freeleech and I'm glad because they are an extremely difficult tracker to seed on - even if I leave a torrent seeding for a year, if no one downloads it my ratio is screwed. I see no reason to not buffer the hell out of an account. Not my problem if the other guy doesn't invest in a seedbox. I feel like I'm doing the community a favor by offering downloads at a fast rate. And isn't that what everyone wants?

I don't think i would call this abuse at all. However, I would definitely call this abuse:

It's this kind of mentality that goes against the very spirit of filesharing and one that is all too common amongst BT users. I hate it when selfish users choose to only seed for the minimum seed time and jump off without moving so much as 1 kb of data without regard to the next person who may want that torrent, this would of course only apply to freeleech torrents that are poorly seeded, which is common in smaller trackers.

That should pretty much tell you whether I feel I abuse freeleech or not. I've still got plenty of year+ old torrents where I am the only seeder.
