Default What makes T-I so addictive?

Most of the regular users here acknowledge that T-I is addictive. It certainly has been for me. But I can't pinpoint exactly why. Yes, I love the community but I've been on other boards that I liked and none of them grabbed me the way T-I did. I've never before been part of a forum that truly felt like a family. So I've been wondering what that special quality T-I has that makes us stick around after we've gotten all the invites we need.

What do you think makes T-I so addictive? What makes all of you come back, day after day? What is that one magical quality? We all know we're a family... but why are we a family? What is it that unites us?

I'd love to hear some thoughts on this.

Just joined today so I may seem out of place slightly but I would venture a guess that it's the fact that everyone here as some level of altruism in them as they are willingly handing out invites without the expectation of getting what they want in return.

There are no torrents here so no one trying to game the system will have much to gain. You've weeded out the riff raff right off the bat, that leaves us "good" apples to play nice with each other. :)

Ti is so addictive because of you Jenna!
haha but seriously you're good in bringing together the community, probable why you are now promoted to admin.

Anyhow moving on with the topic. Some are here for invites, and once they have them they are gone but some are here for something more. I personally have an attraction towards TI. I didn't realize it until the site went down. It felt like my closest friend had died at that very moment. I like the common goal of sharing our interests. To be honest I come from a group of friends where they don't torrent and I can't convince them to. That is what first brought me to TI, a common interest.

Of course this was only the seed at first. Common interest planted the seed, curiosity watered the seed, knowledge inspired the seed to grow, and TI shined down on it keeping the tree alive. Community is a great thing, and yes there are other boards around but I don't think they have the deep caring roots that TI has. I've met a lot of great people here I can relate to, almost more than the real world. :O

This is easily the best community that keeps pulling you back for more. TI in my opinion was not built around invites, but of caring people like you.

I don't know why others are addicted but I'm addicted to Torrent-invites because of the Threads the users post...especially the Threads posted in 'General Discussion' forum. I feel both interesting and funny viewing the topics they post in.

When I first joined TI I came here solely for my interest of obtaining invites to private trackers. After a while and I obtained some of the invites that I wanted I realized something, I realized that TI is more than a place just to get what you want. TI is a place to talk to people like you, where you can discus more than invites but everything going on in your life and the world.

I think that TI is so addictive because of all the people. When you browse through the forums you will never see a rude comment or anything vulgar. We are such a kind caring community because the members here have proved their dedication by taking the time to fill out an application, to read the rules of each forum. Even if we have a couple bad apples they quickly learned their lesson or are banned for it.

I honestly believe that if TI didn't have such strict rules and an application process that we wouldn't be the community that we are today. We are a fairly small community, that's how we can recognize each other in the boards. Without all of the rules set upon us, without an application process, we would probably have a lot more members but we would not be close. People would be coming here to take the invites and leave. You wouldn't be able to trust many people with your invites and the site probably would have fallen.

This website is wonderful. That's all that I can say, and I am very addicted to it. I really agree with Synth. I didn't realize that I was so addicted to TI until the website went down. I was so scared that I would never be able to log back on, never be able to talk to all of these wonderful people. Thankfully TI came back up with a whole new interface. Now I know that I honestly feel like everyone who is a part of the TI community is my friend.

I think it's the camaraderie. There are very few places in the digital world that has the degree of tolerance we have here. We don't prejudice against, sex, colour, creed, how fast your upload speed is, whether or not you have a seedbox or if you have an invite to the latest and rarest tracker. What we do have is a bunch of people that share the same interests no matter how varied or weird, that are willing to go that extra mile to accommodate and help others.
Like Veritas says, the place is active, always buzzing with something and I think that's the lure. You just never know what new thing the members of the forum are going to do next. Well that's what it is for me in any rate.

she deals swift justice to whoever dare oppose her.
Possessing hidden power of untold measure,
she watches all who scurry beneath her gaze.
One may try to imitate her, but none will succeed,
for inclined to both limitless kindness and vengeance, She is at once,
our Hestia, "First and Last", and our Destruction.
    She is ...

For me its several reasons. The main reason is because i can be myself here without any scrutiny. Nobody judges and i feel i can speak my mind without being looked down upon. On other forums im afraid to speak or get involved, especially tracker forums, because u say one thing wrong and your banned. Its unfortunate to say, but some tracker Admins are on a power trip. I feel our admins are more like normal users, who u can actually have a conversation with and this is one of the reasons why i love T-I.

Second, its because of the users i became freinds with over time. I met some really cool people here and some that i became good friends with. I value this and have had more conversations with people here then i did from all over the net combined. Its hard to ever trust anyone especially sitting behind a computer, but i can honestly say that the friends i made here, i 100% trust them and enjoy our conversations. T-I friends are basically all the firends i have in the torrent world and i dont want to lose that.

Next, i would say its because i feel safe and secure here. I think this community does a great job at giving back to its users and i love every part of it. Its not everyday u can find a forum like this and theres so many good people here. Its like this energy i feel when i login to the site and cant explain it. I can just feel the vibe and it pulls me in. Its like im home when im on T-I.

Last i would have to say im addicted to helping people. I know i can help on a million other forums, but this community gave so much to me and its my time to give back to the communtiy. Jenna's right, theres so many reasons why im addicted to T-I, but i cant explain all of them. I just know that when i first open up Firefox that T-I is the first site i open. I feel accepted and apart of this community not just a member and thats hard to find these days.

I can't answer this. I've been here for over a month now and I haven't done anything with invites (I gotta get some to give away first) and I haven't really needed any as I'm happy with TL. But I still hang out in the forums and mostly the IRC. It's just another place to meet and talk with people now. I think the 'common interest' kinda thing hits at it well too, we're all here because of one of the big things we have in common.. The torrents. It starts there and then just branches off from that. I've found a lot of people in the IRC that I just like talking to, and can do so whenever I'm around pretty much. Also, reading the introduction forums to see how many idiots there really are in the world makes me feel better about myself.

Thanks to Freedom for repping me in.
