This is mostly directed towards Windows for me, I don't mind if someone running another OS says what they install. Anyway...

I tend to have to do clean installs a lot, since I usually do something stupid and cause my file system to mess up or whatever else. So, I was just wondering what everyone else installed after a clean install. Hopefully it isn't a lot of repetition...

    For me....

Firefox - I think this is one of the first things a lot of people install.

Spybot S&D - I prefer immunization over constant protection, besides firewall. I just use S&D to block cookies, images that are bad, modify the host file, and whatever else it needs to do.

WinRar - I hope it is obvious why.

MagicDisc - For my iso booting of other apps on my external.

VLC - One of my favorite media players. It plays pretty much anything I throw at it, and I love that I can turn the volume up over 100% cause my speakers suck...

Notepad++ - I mess around with a lot of coding, so this is a must have when I don't feel like using the bloated Microsoft Word.

uTorrent - My favorite torrent application, I just love it cause it is lightweight.

Xampp - I mess around with php coding and installing sites on my laptop, so this is a must have. Well either this or easyphp.

TortoiseSVN - I need an SVN and I hate using the command prompt. Not that I don't know how, it just takes me too long to get what I want done. I can only type 60wpm....

If I wanted to have an antivirus:

Kaspersky or Nod32 - Depending on my mood, in my opinion these two are the best antivirus software.

For my XP seedboxes which i scatter around the place - friends, work, parents etc I use the following rapid deployment template.

Custom XP install made using nlite which allows you to pre configure xp setup answers eg. serial key, install lastest patches, remove features/functionality that you don't need eg. faxing.

    Then these apps:
    Diskeeper Pro (auto defrag app)
    Real VNC (Remote Access)
    Hamachi (Remote Access)
    LogMeIn (Remote Access via Iphone)
Damn NFO viewer (for viewing nfo files)
    VLC (media player)
    FFDshow (filters for audio/video)
Utorrent (if you don't know what this is you shouldn't be at TI lol)
PeerBlock (block nasty RIAA/anti copyright companies IP's etc.)
    SCRU (automatic scene unpacker/unrar'er)
teracopy (advanced file copy app - queuing, pausing etc.
    winrar (for unraring things)
.Net framework 2.0 (needed for some apps)
Chrome (Browser - Allows you to sync bookmarks over multiple pc's)
ISP's Usage App (so i don't go over someone limit and have them yelling at me to take back my seedbox lol)

These are all the apps I need. If you know of something awesome i should have but don't let me know.

Pretty much the same as you but as somebody mentioned, ccleaner. I go with eset-nod32 for anti-virus. I use poweriso for iso files opposed to magicdisc. I just did a clean windows install so im pretty clean right now in terms of software but the ones you mentioned are a must.
I used to be a huge fan of kaspersky but it was so darn difficult getting new keys that i gave up.
    My additions would be-

    Microsoft office
    convertxtodvd
7zip (torrents sometimes need this unpacker)
    spider player (internet radio)
    gimp
    photoshop

On fresh installs I usually install as little as possible. I'm a hoarder in real life so virtually its nice to be clean. First is Firefox, then Winrar, Magic ISO, Photoshop, µTorrent, Steam, File Shredder, and lastly I try to keep Windows classic player my last install for a while.
