    Default Windows 8 release date

On his blog, Chris Green, a former developer from Microsoft, posted a roadmap with the coming windows operating systems. I'm not sure if the dates are really correct, but it seems that previous dates on his list are correct, as well as the release date for Office 2012, which would be targeted for 7/2/2012. He mentions that windows 8 mainstream support is targeted for 7/1/2011.

Thanks for this nehpets, an interesting document!

Glad to see XP SP3 slated for support until 2014! I wonder if I can keep this ol' PC going until then...? It'd almost be a teenager :~D

It's been nice that PCs of the 2000s have had longer life spans than those of the 90s

Well that sucks that windows 7 will have been out for 2 years when windows 8 comes out. So much more long lived life cycles like windows xps. I just hope they don't have another vista with windows 8.

They need to put a lot more effort into the OS's before release, so this doesn't happen.
Releasing a new version every couple years may be profitable but it's also a major downer for the end-user.

Since when has mircosoft ever cared about anything but money. This is the company that made a gaming console that had a fail rate of 54.2%. Heck, its not so far-fetched m$ that ms could start releasing a new os every year just to make more money.

well..no rest for the wicked (read micro$oft) But If they plan on releasing windows 8 in 2012, that would be in conjunction with xbox 720 which is also supposed to come out in 2012.

I reckon W7 will last a while like XP did, a few service packs, and maybe be late 2013 when W8 comes out...

It seems stable as, the features are great, or is the problem people now days are so demanding that even technology now that is quite advanced just isn't enough.

A problem is mainstream people that dont know jackshit about computers think that things like Cable internet will make their computer fast, and why doesnt the $1000 computer they just bought not have TV on it like in the adverts. Hardware. Hardware is almost too advanced in some places now, though it is great, software isn't able to keep up as easy... Graphics cards for example are now ahead of the games in terms of value now.

    Anyway, Just My 2c Worth...

i agree with the post above

for the average person a new OS doesnt mean much more than lots of bugs and patches that need to be applied

i hope they do use Win7 becuase it actualy seems to be working liek it should compared to vista
