Default How much water, food, and ammunition do you have?

Are there any survivors out there? How long would you survive if you lost your job or worse - one of the SHTF scenarios?

Do you generate your own electricity? Pump your own well or store water? Raise your own meat/poultry? Have a root cellar/non-perishable food stores?

If you think about it, those who are prepared tend not to reply. They don't want a hungry crowd looking to beg or rob them in the event social order breaks down. Hopefully you're as anonymous as you are conscious of other security.

I know about 2 dozen people who think that their preparedness plan is coming to my house.

Working my way toward 50 posts ONE RANT AT A TIME. I ought to get to 33% by 2011. If you take what I write seriously, Dude you got no sense of humor!

There was a lot of loud pounding on the front door and someone yelling, "ALCOHOL, TOBACCO, AND FIREARMS!"

Hell, I thought it was a delivery.

I am pretty paranoid. I use 2 generators in my basement and have heaps of reserve fuel for them. they power my computer and my appliances. Have about a month's worth of dried food and water. As for ammunition, Australia has a no-gun policy except for farms.

Just got done reading "The Road" and I'm currently making plans for the end of the world. I'll hit you back when the shelter is finished.

I'm guessing you live in the outback and you have a pet kangaroo

The weather in the northern hemisphere is pretty harsh right now. Here in Korea we would normally get a temperature of -7 C to -1 C on January. Recently, the weather has been on the -20 C mark (I guess this is nothing for you guys living in the Nordic countries or Russia). O_o Fortunately for me, it doesn't snow heavily in the city. So, nobody really wakes up with their house buried in snow. If that would happen though, I would be fully prepared. My cupboard is stocked with canned goods (including a really big can of jalapenos), dried food, biscuits, chips and of course, cooking supplies; fridge is filled with frozen pizzas, sausages, bacon and meat. I think I wouldn't go hungry for maybe 3 months. =P As a last resort, I have a pet bunny, which I could turn into a lovely meal. I still have about 5 full containers (by gallons) of water too in the back room. Cellar is aplenty with wine, vodka, tequila and soju (Korean alcoholic beverage). As for protection ... I've watched a hell lot of Bruce Lee movies. :001_smile:

Don't worry mate, I'm only half-joking. =P I've also heard this crazy story about a Japanese tourist who traveled through the outback and apparently died of hunger and thirst.

Straying away from the topic, enlighten me as I've always been curious about racial prejudices in Australia. A lot of Aussie immigrants that I personally know have told me stories about racial discrimination and such. One of my friends (Asian) who studied in Melbourne has even developed a strong, not-going-to-back-down personality after living there. Recently, there was also news about an Indian student getting attacked, which has also happened before. I would like to know the perspective coming from a native like you (presumably). Do you yourself have any racial bias? I'm not accusing anyone here. Just curious about this topic.
