    Things that I know will happen in 2012;
    My oldest grandson will turn 20 and oldest granddaughter will turn 13, as will my youngest niece [teenagers, as they keep reminding me!], where did the years go?
    I will be adding another decade to my life...........ugh!
    And as if that weren't excitement enough, it's also the next year in the the suns 11 year sunspot cycle and is expected to be more active than recent ones.
    No disasters there, just a lot of activity...........
    Thanks to shadowbuild for repping me in.

    I don't belive it....they love making a big deal out of nothing.....what i do know is we will cease to exist one day but no1 know when...
    For now....live your life and be good....treat each day as it's your last and you won't have a problem when the day does come

    I believe that one day the world as we know it will end but I do not think that it will be in the year 2012.

    Considering the recent increase in natural disasters there is certainly a reason to be cautious and aware..

    2012 the movie had amazing CGI+Special effects but I doubt that a disaster of that magnitude will happen in our lifetimes^

    Well,

    Somebody finally did the right thing and asked 200 very old indígenos Maya about the calendar and the end-of-the-world prophecies. The old folks explained that the real prophecies had nothing to do with the media hype that gets re-iterated in western media by people who have not the slightest clue. They also pointed out that the last time a similar constellation occurred was the date when Hernando Córtez landed in Vera Cruz. Obviously, the world has not come to an end, only their world has. Likewise, the interviewed elders say, there will be fundamental changes in our environment and societies, but that does not necessarily mean the end of the world -- not yet.

    Unfortunately, all results like videos and so on that pop up when searching in English are the same media-hyped and biased tertiary tales. There was, however, a lengthy article in Spanish that quoted the old folks statements literally and explained many of the misunderstandings, misconceptions and plain manipulations in detail.

    One thing, though: if we do not get a grip on fundamental problems like human overpopulation, the extinction of species, social disequilibrium, etc., etc., soon, a catastrophe might occur earlier than we think -- no need for an ancient calendar and hokus-pokus to figure that out, just some common sense when connecting the dots between the information we all have at our disposal and simply choose to ignore because it is so inconvenient.
