Thread: PS3 or Xbox ? which is better ?

hey pirates,

Merry Christmas and Prosperous Happy New Year 2010.




I only game console I used is PS1, PS2, PSP, DreamCast, computer .
didn't try PS3 "because the disk should be original and cost a lot of money", nor Xbox "because I heard of the death light something which you have to throw ur Xbox if you saw that light" .
and now I think what hold me back can be fixed now "buy used ps3 discs, and I believe xbox fixed the death red light"

So, I want you to tell me which console is better ?? and why ??


what are the features of each ? are graphic that def. between them ? which one is dependable and which one is not ? and how much do it cost ?

and one last thing ... because I haven't tried any of them I don't know what are the regions "NTFS and PAL right ?" what are the def. ? and in the ps3 there's 3 regions right ? American, European, and Japanese which one is better ?

So if you can help be explaining everything about each console I would be glad .

P.S. I searched in google for all that stuff but no luck "most of them are out dated" ... and I am not in any gaming forum so thnx for helping me

Well I have both consoles so I say,

XBOX: Dvd Drive is Flash-able with the iXtreme firmware which allows you to play backup games on your console. Plays streamed media files. You can also do lots of mods, like install LEDs, custom fans and all that but that's only if you have time for it. Other than that, the XBOX RROD does happen quite often. I have fixed lots of them. Here's what my Xbox looks like.

PS3: I like better, for it has Blu-Ray Player, Internet browser, Media Reader, and all sorts of things. It can play HD movies streamed media server. I had the Blu-Ray lens go bad on mines, but its an easy fix. Just swap out the laser and your done, not like the 360 where you need to drill holes on the case, heat gun the motherboard, etc. etc. Plus Sony had always have good reputation in their electronics.

But then again, its all up to you, PS3 is well worth for its price, plus online gaming is free!

I suggest you look at what exclusive games the ps3 has and if you thin you're going to play and enjoy them then by all means go for the ps3. Otherwise go with the xbox since it has a little more games and the RROD problem is pretty much fixed with the new xbox'es. And don't forget you'll save heaps of cash if you torrent your games for the xbox.

i have tried out both the consoles and personally prefer the sony ps3 cause of its processing capabilites brilliant graphics and a long line of supported games.

I have played ps3 ,360 and wii. I suggest you go for wii if you want a better gaming experience but for graphics it has to be xbox.

If you're looking for a cost effective solution with a huge range of games go for the xbox - it can be modded easily and you can download game torrents easily. Though I suggest not to void your warranty by modding it and find a forum/shop to buy/sell/trade used game dvds - that's what I do. Also find a source for your games before you decide - if you're torrenting your games no worries, if you're buying/selling/trading make sure which region dvds are available easily NTSC or PAL (Since you're in Asia my guess would be PAL).

The 'death light' or RROD (red ring of death) like exodus said was a major problem in an older version of the xbox 360, it's rare in the new ones since it comes with a better cooling solution (heating problems led to RROD), also your warranty covers it.

I don't own a PS3 but I've played (the superb msg4 & the shitty facebreaker) on it and it's fun - the thing is in the end a console is as good as its games, so -

Take a look at the games, see if there are any particular titles you want to play in any, if not I guess price ought to be your only concern, since there are a lot of common titles in both. Additionally the PS3 does play blu ray titles... but dya really need it?

P.S. - Once you get gaming the minute differences in graphics between the two consoles won't matter much, so don't lean on graphics for your decision.

The 360 can be flashed and can play backup games. PS3 can not.
The 360 has a better online service...but it costs. The PS3 is free, but less features.
The PS3 has built in WiFi, the 360 doesn't
...and it can go on and on...

I like the 360 more than my PS3, because of the online aspect.

I am not an online player so it doesn't matter the online services to me .
but I have question : if I modded the xbox 360, will it cause any problems ? is it possible to use 1 modded xbox for more than "let's say" 3 years ?

I am too lazy to go and buy, repair, update the console if I got one "just like PS2 I used it for more than 3 years and still pretty good and can download it games"

So I think I am going to buy Xbox .

one last question : what are the def. between the regions ? PAL, NTSC "because both are available in market" ?
