I know that right now the holidays are around but I also know that not everyone celebrates Christmas or Hanukkah there are other traditions and celebrations and different ways different cultures celebrate this time of year.

Since We are a VERY diverse group I would like to know what do you celebrate during this time of year?

Whats the name of the Holiday, What Dates is your holiday, What do you do?

For me this is just a good way to get to know a few more members but please do not spam and do not add simple short answers. Thanks you guys and .....

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

To start things off there are two things I grew up celebrating in my family one was Christmas which for us of course is celebrated on the 25th of December, but the celebrations for us start not only on Christmas Eve but also almost about 2 weeks before Christmas. Where I grew up going to church we used to have these like parties called "Posadas" where you would get together and sing songs and make people aware that Christmas is coming and it is time to celebrate. During Posadas you get yummy food and get to spend time with those that you might not get to see during Christmas.

Next Holiday well it is more of a religion thing but it is Jan 6 The Day of the Wise Man (Dia De Los Reyes Magos) this is when the 3 wise man arrive with their gifts after Jesus was born. On this day we also get some presents. Not everyone celebrates it but as a kid of course you would love it because hey another day of gifts why not.

So many holidays so little time and money LOL

Not around this time, but about two weeks ago we had a religious holiday called "Festival of Sacrifice" It is celebrated by Muslims worldwide to commemorate the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.

In Turkey, it lasts 4 days. Everybody wears their finest clothes during that holiday and visits the cemeteries and the living relatives. People who can afford to do so sacrifice their best domestic animals ( Its sheep and cow) as a symbol of Ibrahim's sacrifice. They then distribute the meat to the people in dire need or make a contribution to a charity that will provide meat to those who are in need.

Around this time of year, I am celebrating Christmas. Just in the festive spirit all month, but the only day of actual festivities is the 25th for us. Christmas Eve may or may not involve some celebrations, probably just presents.

Around this time, here in Brazil we just celebrate Christmas an the New Year...
But I'm really unhappy about brazilians in Christmas...no one is talking about Christ or something like that...everyone is just talking about Santa Claus and gifts. WTH... --'

In Portugal, we celebrate Christmas and New year of course. :)
Portuguese people are very dedicated to this kind of things, buy a lot of gifts to offer to family, do donations for charitys, stuff like that.

Jingle took the words right out of my mouth. But seriously this time of year is Christmas time for me...and this will be my first new family Christmas, as this is the first Christmas I've been married for...not looking forward to having to go to Xmas Eve mass with the wife's family. (We are fairly non-religious but her family are a bunch of borderline zealot Catholics...)

I am amused at how millions of so-called atheists are fooled each year into celebrating Catholic holidays such as Christmas or Easter. I'm not religious myself, but at least I don't get sucked in!
