CapppyHamper,I'm running the GPU version on my PC's because of the larger work units being done in the same time. Would I also benefit from running the CPU version for those few, smaller units; Or would the extra load (even though it is on a different PU) slow the processing, negating any extra units done?
Does anyone know?
@FranticD, you're kicking dude. How many PC's have you got running F@H?
Cheers.
I've tried both ways and it certainly will kick out more points if you are running the CPU and GPU clients at the same time. The GOU client uses very little CPU overhead so it's really not an issue. Just make sure that in you configuration options for the GPU client that you set the CPU priority to slightly higher.
As for Clients:
1 GTX 285 OC'd
1 GTX 295 OC'd
1 Mobile 7950GTX
3 Intel E6750's OC'd (2 Desktops, Laptop)
1 2.5Ghz Core 2 Duo (Mac)
1 PS3
1 Buddies craptastic PC
I've had to take down the laptops though as they were having major heat issues. When I get a chance I am gonna take some of my clients and friends machines hostage, although that may take awhile. I was tempted to break into my old college and install it on all the old machines there, but after some consideration I'm not sure that that's such a great idea. I also have a couple old 8800GTX's that I might thrown into a low end PC but I don't have the heat blocks for them anymore as they used to be watercooled and I don't have another watercooling system to throw them in now. If anyone want em, lemme know and i'll send em out to ya for free.
The sad thing is that I run a IT firm and we have this one client that we built 50 high end graphics machines for so that they could view images of CAT scans in 3D. I want sooooo bad to put folding on them but the client refuses to connect them to the internet due to patient privacy concerns. They would totally kick ass as they are all kick ass SLI rigs. Eh well.
