Anyone else having problems getting their work packet?

@Pure_Contact - you need to input the team number before you are part of the team. If you're running windows, right click the F@H icon in your system tray, select configure, type in your username and the team number 176029. Then you will be in the team.

@superbad09 - It should normally take less than a minute or two to get a work packet, then hours or days to complete it, then another minute or two to upload the results. If its taking longer to download a work packet it could be because the server is overloaded (i've seen a few error messages of that recently) or that your firewall or something is blocking the connection. Give it a day or two and see if it fixes itself maybe. or add an exception to the firewell... good luck.

@CappyHamper - I'm not having any probs at the moment, maybe its the same problem that superbad09 is having, that the server is currently overloaded?

Awesome. Signed up, put the GPU client on this machine, CPU client on 2 other machine and ordered a new cord for my PS3 so I can get that going too. Now to go take some computers hostage lol.


EDIT: Folding @ Home has clients that run on your graphics card, and also has clients optimized for multiple cores. Both of these clients will get you alot more credit than running the regular client. PM me if you need help setting them up.

Also added that we get signatures and such generated and updated for us for free once we hit the rank of 3000 or above. This is done by a site called extreme overclocking, and it only tracks the top 3000 teams, as apparently that is 99.9% of all the active teams.

Updated a few other bits and pieces here and there too, its worth a re-read.

Anyone else having trouble getting the smp version to work on a mac? I followed the console instructions but I keep coming up with an error saying that the beta expired on August 2. 2008.

I haven't had any issues with it, are you running an Intel Mac? And did you make sure and get the correct version that matches your OS version?

I'm running the GPU version on my PC's because of the larger work units being done in the same time. Would I also benefit from running the CPU version for those few, smaller units; Or would the extra load (even though it is on a different PU) slow the processing, negating any extra units done?

Does anyone know?

Was driving me crazy as as soon as i created the team, i put the team number in the client (so i was technically the first person in the team :P) but then everyones name popped up on the site first because my client chose one of the bigger work packets... it did it again now, im 47/250 at the moment... the ones out of 5000 always go so much quicker...

Anyways, I'm only running the CPU Client also, been running it for a few years now... i might even go check how many work units my old username did :)
